Popular Post petitewife
Hello again everyone, OK back offshore at work and a little time to post a few more pic’s of us up North recently, a few of our blocks under cultivation and one of our next door neighbors after I sorted out his fuel problem with his little Kubota pump in his paddy... hope you enjoy... Preparing our cane and sorting out some laser land levelling for next crop cut, we will level 2 of our blocks 60 rai in total and flood irrigate for the next crop on one block for a 4 year trial period and we will level another block and sprinkler irrigate trial for another 4 years. I was going to use sub surface drip but I cannot be everywhere all the time and this type of sub surface dripper must be cleaned, filtered and maintained to a very high standard, and I know my Thai workers are not up to that sort of UN supervised reasonability. We will flood using a solar pumping system remotely operated and moisture sensors placed in the fields will be monitored remotely and when required I can start pump remotely, no expensive to set up just need to know what your requirements are and what gear you need exactly, EG: remote monitoring program and control module via your smart phone $220 USD. Hi there petite wife and welcome. Would love to see some photos of your place, if you have a mind to share. Here you go, this is 75 Rai block with cane and we have another 80 Rai with cane as well, we have further blocks fallow at present, we have 20 Rai just purchased for another project. 2 shots of 75 rai S__9380073.jpgS__9380075.jpg 2 Shots of bottom end of 80 Rai it is not a uniform shape but good soil 15946.jpg15947.jpg Last 2 shots top dirt red shot Is cassava, and bottom block black dirt 20 Rai recently purchased for new project S__9437187.jpgS__9404556.jpg We purchased the last 20 Rai and had not had the soil tested prior to purchase, were going to build a pig farm here but after soil testing we will now grow further cane, and look to purchase another block for the Pigs. My situation is I'm still working offshore, Live in Phuket and have been farming in Loei for many years good money to be made and every cent we make from the land is ploughed straight back into land purchases and land improvement, we do very well, I will retire in the next 10 years, we will move to Loei permanently and enjoy life, 48 at present and life is good. I have been a member here for many years just never posted, I sit back and watch all the guys talking and I keep my opinions to myself, but there is money in farming in Thailand if done properly as you would in your own country, I have lived in Phuket for 20 years and I partly understand how things work, only partly. Anyhow hope you like the pics.

Popular Post petitewife
Hello all, I see some great pics here and good to see other people farming in Thailand and not just slagging the place, although after 20 years here i do a little of that. Anyhow a few more shots of some of our blocks in Loei. Below is a smaller 6 rai block in our village purchased years ago, we have been using as a testing bed for different irrigation, fertilizing and weed control methods, after this years 5 th harvest we will clear and build workshop and storage yard for all our equipment, it's close to our building plot for the new house. 6 Rai 6 Rai 6 Rai Below is another block, also final harvest this year it is the 6th year and we will have produced as much out of this crop as possible with current method of irrigation and weed control, along with cutting method. The land will be cleared re levelled for flood irrigating and also we will have controlled traffic when working on the block from fertilizing to harvesting, we are going with 1.8 m row spacings that will match all our equipment and contract trucking, this will save in the long run, and the loss of planted cane area from wider row spacings will be regained in yeild, we get 12 tons per rai from this block anually and with block improvments e expect 15 to 18 tons, with what we have learnt in the previous years testing different methods we are confident / hopeful. Last year we cut 294 tons from this block, so slightly better than 12 ton a rai. Tractor & Quad at 24 rai We were here for weed spraying, this photo is 1st day of application 3 days after application My beautiful wife doing what she does best, Smile and work alongside me every step of the way Heading home to Phuket after 3 weeks up North, time to get back to work... Hope yo enjoy the pics.. Noddy & Jun
