:D My husband has a 1yr multi-entry B-Visa, mine's an 'O'. All set for our first Visa run this w/e, with Jack Golf to Ban Laem. Now this: My husbands company's lawyer(who's working on his work permit application) sent an email saying that he wants us to meet up with him on the 28th (last day visa is valid) at 10pm to go to the Immigration office to extend our Visas there. :D I don't understand this at all. I was recently told that, once my hubby's got his work permit, he no longer needs to do the visa run, and neither do I(which is great). But his application is still being processed...

And go to Immigration at 10pm? Why so late??? You'd think that the lawyer would know what he's talking about ( :o ) but I'm really worried that we get there and they'll tell us they wont extend the Visas . That would put us in an awkward situation...

Can anyone tell me if things really can be done this way? Thanks a lot in advance!!! :D

I should imagine that the time stated was a typo, but would strongly advise that you contact the lawyer ASAP.

Btw, the lawyer can guarantee nothing as far as I would be concerned, which means you could find yourself on overstay.

As a minimum you need to get the meeting with Immigration brought forward, in my view.

If you have any doubt whatsoever after contacting the lawyer, my inclination would be to go ahead and do your visa run regardless.

Edit: It just occurred to me. Your visa status has nothing to do with your husband's, so if yours is expiring you need to deal with it anyway. :o

That's why I had the trip to Cambodia planned.I had to give the lawyer a copy of my passport/visa & marriage certificate + 2 photos (4x6) . He said that I won't need to do anymore visa runs, once my husbands work permit is sorted.

Immigration is not open at 10 PM so also suspect there was an error. He may be able to help you extend your visas for a week or so to allow the work permit to be obtained and then do the normal extension so that part may be true. Thai do not often use AM/PM when telling time so you need to check that out. You should probably phone him.

Spoke to the lawyer, and it turns out the immigration office would have given us a 30 day extension, rather than the 90 days we are after. So we're off to Cambodia. Thanks Lopburi3 and Noel for your advice! :o

Glad to learn you now know where you stand.

Enjoy your trip! :D

Why would you be after a 90 day extension? You have a work permit in progress that is going to allow you both to obtain one year extensions of stay. Right? Just don't follow your logic. Lawyer obviously feels that work permit and paperwork will be available during that 30 days and that you could do the extension process. Or did he say there was going to be a problem?

Well, thing is my husband first applied for his permit back in December and one of his colleagues actually waited just over 6 Months for his permit. There's been a lot of confusion with paperwork etc already (e.g. the lawyer asking for 3 reference letters from former employers , when no one else in the company had to provide them previously) so God knows how long it will be until the work permit is actually issued. So to be frank, I'm currently not very confident to put my trust in what the lawyer says. I think for now we're best off doing the visa run & get a stamp for another 90 days, and hopefully by the time those run out the work permit will be sorted!

I'm totally confused. I don't know whether there is any chance to get a visa instead of the usual tourist (60 days) visa. I would need a visa with multi entry and a bit longer than the 60 days like a visa for 6 months or anything else. But I won't work for any company in Thailand. I am from HUN and never tried to get anything else before. So if somebody knows anything about this situation...let me know something.

To China I know how to go...but to Thailand...I don't know yet.

:D

Please give me a bit guidance. :o
