Rain In Krabi?

Featured Replies

can any locals tell m what the rain is like here? is it likely to be tropical - a couple of hours in the afternoon or is it more likely to rain for a full day or two?

I am not a local, but have been there 4 times last year. I've never seen it raining for a full day, have only seen the tropical rain ... Interesting, in June, during the rainy season, did not have a single drop of rainfall for 2 weeks clap2.gif

Not much in mid April either, same for the beginning of October. It rained a lot at the end of November.

Can't wait to go back, today is 27C below the freezing here crazy.gif

June,July, august is great weather and not really rainy season, the rainy season for krabi is really oct,nov and December although you can get a 3-4 day storm blow in anytime between may - oct

thanks mate, guess it looks like some of that from sunday / monday.. could be a good time to nip back to phuket.

February was horrendous in the region last year. The South was cut off from the North by road for 36 hours.

I gave up an intended 10 day holiday in Phuket and drove back home to sunny Issaan after 3 days (and by the way the weather has been absolutely gorgeous in this part of Lower Issaan for over 5 weeks - dry and sunny every day; way better than Bangkoks sweaty smog that I had to endure two days of last week).

We forget that monsoons (weather generally come to that) happen differently in different parts of Thailand.

Jan - Mar are driest months. Other months rain is mostly tropical - ie., afternoon short downpours. Can get some storms blow in which bring heavy rain for several days running during May-Nov. But if you are worried about the rain, just duck back to Phuket. It never rains there whistling.gif

thanks for the tip juggs, i'm not going to phuket to avoid the rain, i'm going choosing a time to go to phuket (to see people) when krabi doesn't have favourable weather for fun outdoors things.

So much for rain on sun/mon my thermometer is showing 32 degrees in the shade today ,which makes it the hottest day of the season so far.

  • 2 weeks later...

it's been very hot last couple of days, actually waiting for some rain, but none in sight yet, my plantation needs rain smile.png

yes palm oil, and in need of some rain right now smile.png
