Can some one let me know we're the famous floating market is ? I see it on the posters on Khason road . Is it near bkk ? How far a drive from bkk?

Amphawa is not far, just drive down Rama 2 in a southernly direction, is signposted.

I used to drive to Ayutthaya quite regularly, using the entry to the expressway at Wat Bua Khwan, then follow it to the end where the toll booths are (about 20 minute drive), head right, follow the road till it joins the main road, then bear left, follow the road to Ayuthaya. The Market is in the city centre area and signposted.

If Amphawa I usually go onto the expressway on the Mall side, then follow it over the Chao Phraya towards Thonburi, it splits into two follow the Rama 2 road, should take about 40 minutes from Central Rama 2. When getting into Amphawa can be full of traffic, also coming back the roads are full.

I just looked them up and I think I will go to Amphawa because the one in Ayutthaya is very touristy thanks for directions

The "famous floating market" is neither in Amphawa nor Ayutthaya: it's in Damnoen Saduak.

I'd guess the OP is thinking of Damnoen Saduak if he's seen it on a tourist poster.

The sad fact is that almost all of the floating markets in Central Thailand are horribly crowded nowadays, even the ones off the tourist circuit.

I think that the train you see on that video is the train running from Samuth Sakhon to Samuth Songkram.

From Samuth Songkram you can go north on the river Mae Klong to Aphawa, mentioned further up in the thread.

If you continue north past Amphawa you will get to Klong Damnoen Saduak and the "famous" floating market.

There are several floating markets in Bangkok on the western side of the river.

Her is another one off the beaten track, on the way to Minburi.

The market is called Kwan Riam and is a weekend market, Sats and Suns and holidays.

The market is actually in Klong Saen Saeb.

There is also one in Chim Pli (near Pin Klao) next to the government offices there. It backs onto the Thonburi - Kanchanaburi railway too (to help people find it on the map).

This is the one I am thinking of. Taling Chan Floating Market right next door to the District Office. Not a lot of tourists but it is serviced by long tail boats coming from town, although I'm not sure where they leave from. Open weekends and maybe public holidays. Usually in the afternoon there is a concert by locals. Quite funny sometimes as the 'performers' are pretty mao.

We go there fairly often (we live close by) but beware of double pricing for farangs where no cost is displayed. Parking can be a problem. If coming by car it's better to park the other side of the railway line. Obviously info for locals only
