New Passport (Extension Stamp Etc Tranfered) - Does This Effect My O Visa?

Featured Replies

I have just got a new passport. I have done what is required to transfer the extension of stay stamp etc to the new passport.

I work as a volunteer and have a Work Permit current till August, and O visa which is due for renewal but the organization seems to think the fact that I have just got a new passport means I have to start the process again by leaving and getting a new O visa. It seems to me I should be able to show them the visa stamp in the old passport (or they can consult the photocopy of this).

Does anyone know if I am correct? I don't want to do a visa run right now unless it is essential.

thanks

You have a valid extension of stay and you are talking about renewing you O-VISA.... As long as you have a valid extension of stay, that is as long you do NOT need to care about the Non immigrant O... it is valid just fine....

You Non Imm O is also transferred into your new passport together with all stamps needed....

You went to immirgation and had your permisison to stay transferred to the new passport. Your new passport has a stamp in it which tells you till what date you are allowed to stay.

I suspect you don't have a valid visa (it will have expired), but are on an extension of stay. When your permisison to stay is finished you simply apply for a new extension of stay. That you entered on a non-O visa is already noted in the new passport.

As noted reference is made to the original visa that allowed entry and extension of stay in the new passport and that is all you need - you will need a re-entry permit for any travel however.

"That you entered on a non-O visa is already noted in the new visa."

That probably should read:

That you entered on a non-O visa is already noted in the new passport.

And so edited.
