Ticket Problem...

Featured Replies

hey folks...

Nationality USA

Flying from MSP to BKK on a double entry tourust visa on a one way ticket with NWA (northwest airlines)...anyone ever have problems with NWA not letting you on the flight from the USA to BKK because not a round trip ticket back to the USA...i know and have read many times, that with a visa you only need the one way ticket...i called NWA, to verify that i wont have no problems with my one way flight to BKK on a tourist visa, but they give me the big run around, and told me to check out the requirements...all it says is round trip ticket not needed with a visa...but the gals i talked to at NWA says its up to the folks who look over my passport/visa at the airport before entering the plane out of MSP...how about a little help here please...what more do i need to bring...

Hi -

As I work for the airlines I can tell you the rule is that you must have a return ticket if on a visa other than a work permit and visa. Now the likely hood that your questioned is low. But what you should do is book a return ticket direct with the airline (separate from the ticket you have) in straight Y class (Economy) have a copy of the itinerary that shows the return. You are not paying for this but holding a reservation. Book direct with NW in MSP by going to the ticket office. This way if the checkin agent asks about your return ticket you can show her the return itinerary and advise her you will be doing an E-ticket at a later date. This will satifsy her. Same if ever questioned when you arrive which is unlikely to happen if you holding a western passport. They normally only question Chinese/India/African and the like.

Hope this helps.
