Double Entry Visa

Featured Replies

im looking to come and stay in thailand for around six months, i just want to check the validity of the information i have at present

1. i book flight to thailand

2. about 2 weeks before my departure date i apply for double entry visa at local thai consulate (adelaide, australia), i supply them a couple of passport photos, my passport and flight infomation

3. visa is issued and i fly to thailand

4. upon arriving i start the first of my 60 day entries

5. around ten days before the end of my first stay i head to local immigration office and apply for 30 day extension on first entry

6. after 90 days i exit thailand and re-enter, activating my second 60 day entry

7. around ten days before that expires i again obtain a 30 day extension at a local immigration office

If anyone notices any errors in that outline please let me know smile.png

some questions i have -

1. Do i exit the country on the 90th day? if i exit before say after 85 days are those 5 days stay in thailand lost?

2. the gentleman at the local consulate suggest the extensions where hard to get saying 'good luck', but most people on here suggest it is a mere formality only requiring one to front up at an immigration office fill in a couiple forms and part with 1900 baht, is this the case?

Your plan will work.

Once you leave Thailand your permission to stay has ended. So wait until the 90 days are almost up.

The 90 day extension is a formality and is rarely refused.

thanks mate, the travel agents i went to didnt seem to know all the info so thanks alot for the clarification, i notice your an admin so could you please advise me where i place questions about koh chang? in the koh samui etc forum? thanks

The extension is basically a formality. What you have to be aware of is that both entries must be made on or before the "must use by date" on your VISA. A double enrty visa can be valid for either 3 or 6 months from the day that it is issued, depends on the issuing consulate. If it's 6 months, your plan is Okay but if it's only 3 months you must use the second entry befor enter by date on the visa. So if you get it too early you won't get the full use of your first 30 day extension.

Why not get a 3 entry visa if you are trying to get as much as you can out of 2 entry visa. That would allow you a little extra breathing room.

the gentleman at the consul indicated a double would be the only one available, ive heard different consulates may offer three entry or only two entry.
