China really has no interest in Tibet ..

I would say they have a huge interest in Tibet.

Allow me to correct myself, when I say they have no interest in Tibet , my comment was directed at David's posting of wanting to colonize them.

They really have no interest in that. China is made of enough minority groups that they will never be able to unify them all.

Even among the Han Chinese they cannot get them to agree to speak Putonghua which is is mandarin in layman terms. Most people prefer to speak on their own dialects and deal with their own clans man . I speak only 2 of the 600 dialects and its gets me only this far

In modern day shanghai and Beijing even today, if you don't speak the dialect you are an outsider and the locals will tell you this means you will be shut off from the best of deals whether u like it or not.

Just again the way it has been for thousands of years and will not change

Tibet serves as a strategic buffer against their old foe India and so does Mongolia up in the north ..military purposes yes to get the Tibetan to convert like the western press hints of ...honestly I don't believe there is any interest at all.
