I finished a job recently and the WP is in the process of being cancelled (the employer was gracious enough not to cancel the WP immediately).

Since finishing the last job, I've started a new job and was wondering is it possible to keep the current non-imm (I'll get a new WP from the new employer upon completion of the trial period)? If so, how do I do that?

I'd really hate to have to go through the whole process again...

Thanks in advance.

What do you now have? A 90 day visa entry or an extension of stay from immigration (which would have expired the day your employment ended regardless of work permit return)?

I'm still here on an extension of stay.

On this note, I was told by a fellow employee that I could continue to live in Thailand until the current extension of stay expires in August this year. Supposedly the department issuing WPs and immigration "don't work closely" with one another and the immigration officials "wouldn't be any the wiser". Has anybody done this before? I mean, continued living in Thailand on a non-imm visa/extension of stay after they've resigned and their WPs were cancelled? What, if any, consequences should I expect at a boarder if I were to do this?

Basically I don't want the hassle of going through the whole bureaucratic process again to get a non-imm and reentry permit. It's simply too time consuming...

They might not notice it immediatly, but will when you go for a new extension and notice you have a different employer. Than you will be fined at 500 a day from the day you lost your first job, with a maximum of 20,000 baht.

Working requires a WP, including during the trail period.

Labour can notice that you didn't cancel your permission to stay when you apply for the new WP and are staying illegally, they can refuse you a WP for that.
