February 10, 201313 yr My boat has gone missing and it seems that no one knows anything about it. If it was a dinghy or a longtail or even a fishing boat, maybe that would be understandable. But this boat was a 70 ton 28 meter long steel hulled ex-German military patrol boat painted red and orange and fitted out as a party boat. I have run ads and sent out hundreds of emails to everyone I can think of, yet somehow someone towed this boat away from Ao Makham where it was tied up for six years behind a boat repairshop and made it disappear with no one seeing or hearing anything! There used to be a feeling of community here in Phuket but that seems to have also disappeared.
February 10, 201313 yr It would take specific transport equipment to move and haul a boat that size. There wouldn't be too many companies on Phuket that would be able to take on a job like that. Why don't you make some enquires along those lines, or pay the police to do it.
February 10, 201313 yr Probably sold for scrap. Yes, that's possible. Why move it when you can cut it up and sell it off as scrap metal.
February 10, 201313 yr Face it. You have been "had". Look on the bright side: 2 things have disappeared: Your vessel and you lost your false sense of security with it. Sorry for you

February 10, 201313 yr The man who owns/ runs the boat repair shop will know where it is for sure. He might not be telling you the whole truth... Just my first thought...
February 10, 201313 yr The man who owns/ runs the boat repair shop will know where it is for sure. He might not be telling you the whole truth... Just my first thought... From the location, it sounds like Mister Lee's boatyard a couple of hundred metres or so along from the oil terminal at Ao Makham. His lease run out last year and he had to vacate the yard. Believe that he's operating in Chalong Bay now.
February 10, 201313 yr So the boat was just sitting there unattended? Were there engines on board, and were they in working condition?
February 10, 201313 yr Someone has to know something. Have you contacted the Marine police? It might have been seen by them they can keep a lookout. Offer a reward and they won't quit. I guy I know lost a boat with 2 new motors never to be seen again but this is a huge ship. Its probably smuggling fuel now.
February 10, 201313 yr "Anyone seen my camel" i loved that movie Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app
February 11, 201313 yr Popular Post May I suggest the following approach: print-out a picture of this vessel and get some local Thai friend to sit in a typically Thai drinking-establishment near the ship-yard where your boat used to be moored-off. Give this guy some money, so he can buy the dockyard-workers a few rounds . . . . Then, at the right time (when things are 'bubbling along nicely") this 'undercover-agent' of yours, should pull-out this (little bit crumpled-up) picture and start making sneering comments about the 'stupid Farang owner bla, bla, bla. Of course he has to act like he knows nothing about this affair and is simply trying to make interesting conversation, while appearing to be slightly tipsy (which he must surely not actually be, of course ! !). IF anyone at his drinking table 'knows' anything at all, make sure that this person (or persons) can be followed-up with the next day (where do they work; what's their names; 'invite' them to some imaginary party (free booze) next weekend; try to get their mobile numbers etc. I reckon that would be the quickest way to find-out what happened to your boat. This IS a 90+ Foot ship and someone MUST have seen, heard or whatever something. If this fails, drop me a PM - I may have some other course of action for you.
February 11, 201313 yr Good suggestion Jaapfries, only one small problem - having a Thai sit in a drinking establishment to conduct this investigation.
February 11, 201313 yr Good suggestion Jaapfries, only one small problem - having a Thai sit in a drinking establishment to conduct this investigation. Also, as it's a very Muslim area, there are no local Thai drinking establishments. First thing to happen is to report it to the Marine 5 office, which is only about 300 metres from the boatyard.
February 11, 201313 yr That bankrupt German Builder maybe thinks it will be easier to get money from a German Ship than the princes Aeroplane ?

Thai's just won't bubble other Thai's to us I hope he finds out what happened.

Nobody is naive enough to think Muslims don't drink, but you won't find any Muslim locals drinking in public view in that area. There are a couple of farang orientated places nearby, but that's it. February 11, 201313 yr After seeing the picture. I would think everyone was glad to see the back of it. What a monstrosity.
February 11, 201313 yr After seeing the picture. I would think everyone was glad to see the back of it. What a monstrosity. Perhaps if he been paid for it! Monstrosity or not, it would seem, that he has had his property & buiness stolen! There really are some miserable people on this forum!
February 11, 201313 yr Could be outside territorial waters by now, or at least outside Thai territorial waters....isn't there any international supervisory body to report to when a ship has been lost?
