Have 1 Tourist Visa, Get Another Before It Is Used?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Is it possible to get another tourist visa if you still have one left unused in your passport?

I have one tourist visa left. I will be going to Yangon next week, and returning to Bangkok after 3 days, using that visa. In Yangon, can I apply for another tourist visa even though at that time I will have one not yet used in my passport? The reason is that I'd like to stay longer than 90 days after I return to Bangkok, and if I already have another visa, I won't have to fly out of the country again and can just do a border run.

I apologize if this already has been answered. I could not find in a search of the forum.

If it makes any difference, I hold a Hong Kong passport.

thanks,

Normally a Consulate will not issue if you have a valid visa in your passport.

Apply for a double entry tourist visa in Yangon.

Ask them to cancel your existing one.

You can not have two valid visas at the same time.

That sounds like a good solution. Have you or anyone else in this forum actually done this, in Yangon or elsewhere?

Thank you for your help

Hi,

What I meant is has anyone had experience asking an embassy/consulate to cancel an existing tourist visa and get new double-entry visa. That thread doesn't mention this.

I also was wondering: The double-entry tourist visa that I already have. When I go to Yangon from Bangkok next week, I will have used up only 70 of the 90 allowed days on the first visa. Is it possible to get a re-entry permit that will apply to that first visa, so that I can re-enter for another 20 days and my second entry remains unused yet? Or must I use the second visa on any re-entry, no matter how long I stayed on the first visa?

Thanks

You can obtain and use a re-entry permit but is the less than 20 days worth the cost is the question (you get stamped in for your current permitted to stay date - it does not add any time).

It's policy to cancel all existing visas before issuing a new one.
