Question About Over Staying Visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

i have over stayed my tourist visa by 3 days. I know i will have to pay 1,500bht when i leave via Suvarnabhumi but my question is this; the desk where the over stay fine is paid, (behind immigration) is it open at 5:30am? My flight is 6:40am

Cheers for any info

It will be open - just allow a little extra time.

Hi Robert,

Did you have any difficulties with this? I am thinking of overstaying for 6 days, but not of I'm going to pay much more than 3000 baht or get in trouble.

Thanks!

Xo

You can pay 1,900 baht for a TM.7 extension application which will allow an extra 7 days to depart. Cheaper then 500 baht per day fine and chance of jail (however small that might be).

Thanks for all the answers.

I will post back my experience going through immigration.

Cheers

and what is the cost in terms of time and hassle?

jail time? only if you happen to get busted with a bag of coke while on overstay

The time and hassle is not much to get the extension.

If you are stopped at a check point or just a random check by the police and they find that you are on overstay you can very easily end up in jail (IDC).

I already did one seven-day extension. Can I do a second extension? Any advice is appreciated - I'm in krabi area

No. You should have exited for a new 15 day stay and can still do that. Malaysia has no visa charge for most nationalities.

Well, i passed through Suvarnabhumi at 04:45 without any problems. I was simply taken to the desk behind immigration, asked very politely to pay 1,500 bht for 3 days overstay. They even apologized for the 5 minute wait to complete the paper work! smile.png

Yes, that's always been my experience in overstays ranging from a day or two right up to months.

Following passport control, "This way please Sir", a few minutes while they do their sums and the paperwork, then it's "Thank you Sir" and off you go.

I'm not recommending it, but if you have the money, there's no problem.
