Gweiloman
Before the usual suspects start on about how lax Thai immigration is about letting in criminals etc etc, take a moment to consider how was it possible for him to escape Europe in the first instance? As a convicted criminal, why wasn't he behind bars, passport confiscated etc (unless passport was forged?)

Yes - many people charged with offences and on bail seem to manage to flee their countries these days. Police in Europe may be of very varying standards - in ability and professionalism but don't suffer the ingrained institutionalised corruption found in many third world law enforcement agencies. Hopefully the Belgian police will learn from this.

obi1970
Bad thing is that they lock up creeps like this seperatly in belgium because its well known if they put child molesters and rapist in general population that they will get executed in prison. (you dont touch children) , As you might remember about 15 years we have a creep named Dutroux who abducted, raped and then killed some children he is kept under solitude confindmant for all those years because mob underworld puts money on his head who ever can kill him in prison. (sqtill keeping fingers crossed that they get him tho) no excuse and absolution for scum like this

Very little risk to his safety. I have, and there are rapists and all sorts mixed in with the general population, though i'd be surprised if someone were to boast about being a nonce, but the Prison Wardens know who is in for what and no doubt like to talk. Though if he is sectioned off he'll be in a wing with grasses and all sorts who also despise nonces. In prison there is a constant risk to your safety no matter who you are. tragickingdom
8 years in Belgium means 29 months in jail and probably even less, it is already amazing that the Belgian authorities went so far as going after this man.
