Thai Passport For 50/50 Thai/german Daughter

Featured Replies

A Thai female friend of mine has a nine year old daughter sired by a German citizen who is named as the father on the child's Thai birth certificate. They are not married or living together. He lives in Germany. Question: is his participation necessary to get a Thai passport for the daughter.

In normal circumstances both parents have to sign for minor children.

In this case, I suggest you ask the passport office what they need.

In all likelyhood no,as being named on the birth certificate is not enough to be the legal father. He would have had to legalise the child to become the legal father. In all likelyhood he will not have done that.

What she needs to do is go to the amphur and asks for a khor rhor 13 form, that will show that she has sole custody. If she shows that to the passport office, there will be no requirement for the father to sign to form also.

I have some recent experience in such matter.couple of years ago they introduced regulation requiring presence of both parents for child passport application. Now this requirement has been eased, mother has to sign declaration, that father is not present and that she is the sole parent responsible

for her child. Some supporting letter from local authority may be necessary.

Good luck!
