NR. Shouting will get you nowhere, there is a great deal of experience on these forums and many, many posters know exactly what they're talking about.

Consulates can and do indeed pick and choose the validity period of the visas they issue as well as the rules they choose to enforce before they will, you only have to browse this forum to see that. That said it is unusual to see a triple entry TV with only a 3 month validity (was that an error on their part one wonders).

Additionally, many consulates are ill informed as to the entry rules (sometimes actually posting misinformation on their websites), they know their rules for issuing the visa but as to what happens at the border / airport it's often a big ??

I reaffirm my assertion (and that of every other poster who has replied) that if you try to use any entries after the 'Enter Before' date you will be denied and receive only the Visa Exemption entry (30 days) that your US passport allows.

If your visa looks like this ;-

You must make ALL your entries before the 'Enter Before' date.

You must make ALL your entries before the 'This visa must be utilized before' date. Yes, I know it's a non-immigrant visa, Tourist Visas often take the same form.

Please let us know how you get on.

No error on visa. I'm dismayed with the arrogance. The site seems like something valuable and positive..but I can't participate when many forget here seem to discount that there is a human being on the other end of their communication sad.png

To clarify..."Your visa is good for three entries - the first entry must be utilized by the April 20th date - you must enter on the next two entries before 6 months from the date of issue, so on a three entry visa, you will not be able to get a 30 day extension of all three entries. You may get the extension on the last one or two depending on the dates you enter on those visa entries."

So, my first question still stands as I didn't have- nor did I ask --a question about the validity or timing of my visa.

I respectfully request -- no more responses to me or @minimum -please write them in Thai so I can't read them for another few months. wai.gif

OK your OP:-

Question is -> can I leave Thailand DURING the 60 days and return without penalty using same tourist visa... or does tourist visa expire when leaving country?

For example: On 20th day of visa , may I cross into Cambodia for 10 days and return without sacrificing the balance of first visa?

Answer.

If you leave Thailand during that 60 days it is cancelled unless you have bought a re-entry permit. This will keep your permit to stay alive but only to the original date, you do not get any credit for the days you are outside Thailand.

So, if you are stamped to say 15th March on your entry, you then leave before the 15th with a re-entry permit, when you return (before 15th March) you will be stamped again to 15th March.

Note that the re-entry permit expires with the stay that it covers, once you have a new permit to stay date you will need a new re-entry permit (even if you have not used said re-entry permit).

If you leave without a re-entry permit and return within the validity of your visa then you will use another entry and get a 60 day permit to stay.

Sorry to disobey your instruction NR, but this is an example of the consulate being mistaken.

Please do however post a scan of your visa just in case there is a miscommunication going on amongst ourselves.

It's always possible that there is a new visa type that works in this way, hopefully the immigration officers will know about it and we would like to include it in our database of visa stamps.

I will advise the Oregon Consulate of your suggestion and forward a copy of response. In the mean time, I can find NO information or contact info that "goes through" on deleting my account here. Can you advise how to delete my account.?

We do not delete accounts here, if you wish to stop using yours simply leave and do not return, your 8 posts will soon vanish from the front page never to be seen again.

As to the consulate, if you don't want to post a scan of your visa you could ask Oregon to copy their reply to support[at]thaivisa.com and include a scan of a sample visa. They may also wish to reference the relevant Thai immigration order which details how their particular visa differs from those issued by other consulates and embassies around the world.

Crossy gave you correct information.

The only way we can help you further is if you post a scan of your visa with your personal details blocked so we can check it.
