'Gang of men' attack student in Thailand

A British student has been attacked after reports that she was dragged off the street by a gang of men while visiting Thailand.

The Bangkok Post said the woman was from Scotland and had been allegedly raped after leaving a nightclub.

The Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of a British national having been involved in a serious assault in Thailand."

"We are providing consulate assistance at this difficult time."

Police in Nakhon Si Thammarat, in the south of the country, are investigating.
