I ordered a few items from home (US) that I forgot to bring.

The tax the ups guy collected was like 2,200 baht.

Any idea if I can get that money back when I leave back to USA again?

I'm 99.9% sure you cannot get the import duty or VAT back when you take your item out of the country. Others may know better.

You must have a VAT form issued by a licensed business here in Thailand, so no, you are not going to get the VAT and other Customs duties you paid to United Parcel Service. Next time use the United States Postal Service and you might not get hit for anything

99.99% If something is only temporary in a country it must be noted somehow at the entry. I never did that in Thailand.
