Hey All

I am also a lurker, so maybe it's a good time to introduce myself briefly.....

London chick, Thai husband, been in LOS for on and off 10 years with said husband but working in Jakarta for 6 months while my husband is Thailand.... :o I go back every 2-3 weekends but it takes me 9 hours to get there, I get 1 full day there and have to leave the next day (wouldn't do it if didn't miss people, food etc so much)....I also used to live in Oz before I discovered Thailand.

Good news to all those with visa problems - my husband has just got British citizenship so it means when we have a family we won't have to endure that nightmare visa situation and we can come and go as we please :D

Found myself going full circle as my husbands younger brother is marrying a 'Sheila' can't wait, this is only the begining of a v. large extended international family....

Anything seems a better alternative to a farang guy in Thailand.

And dare I ask whats wrong with a farang lad? :D

See previous posts in Ladies Forum............... :o

:D:D

Uh those lads who posted bashing farang ladies weren't actually men, so they don't count!!! :D

I'm a farang girl with a farang guy and we're very happy. We met here in Phuket and we'll be here a long time I think. We know of very few other couples like us here (farang with farang) but that's ok.

I'm a British girl (26) living in BKK with my British boyfriend (34). We've been together 6 years and we came here together almost a year ago and intend to stay long-term.

We have made many friends since we've been here although I must say that I don't know a single farang female of my sort of age, part of a couple or otherwise. It's not a problem as I get on fine with the guys and their Thai wives/girlfriends but will admit to occasionally missing some western female contact - just for chit-chat and bottles of wine! Any takers?!! :D

Keep posting on here & you will soon find ladies of all ages living all over the place & some even in Phuket.

Also try the Phuket forum, there are regular meet ups arranged & a few farang women go to those too. You & fella could pop along & meet some of the TV Phuket reprobates :o

Yes, I know how you feel, when I first left home I lived in a small town in Taiwan. It was me, the two Mormon missionaries and 130,000 chinese people. Getting stared out, pointed at, etc got old really quickly.

At first I despaired of ever adjusting but, after awhile, when I tried to look at the positives (my Chinese improved drastically, the house I lived in was fabulous and the housekeeper made the best fried rice I have ever had) it made the whole experience bearable.

I have now lived away from my home for 17 years and do miss it awfully sometimes but I try to remember what I love about my life here then: my husband, my home, my dogs, my lovely beach location.

Think about the benefits and good things you are receiving. Sometimes it helps to sit down and make a list of both the good and bad. Then you can decide if there are things you can do to make it better and it reminds you that it isn't so awful after all.

Hang in there!

I love fried rice .............

I'm 25% Spanish, 25% Chinese, 50% Mixed Blood Origins (Including Malay, Indo, Indian, Arab, etc.) = Filipina

Welcome to the Ladies forum. :o

Whats wrong with Farang men in Thailand? Maybe this post should evolve into its own thread, and the men can certainly asnwer for themselves. Mabye I could post the question "WHy cant you get laid in your own country?"

I had a male, man, farang, nice looking, friend of mine once tell me why men liked Thailand. He said men could continue to be the self - centered, arrogant <deleted> that they wanted to be without changing or making an effort and still have a girlfriend. :o

Many of the Thai women tolerate, what I might consider intolerable.

Why do you farnag men lurking in this forum want to know whats wrong? YOU DONT EVEN LIKE FARANG women anyways!

There are a few nice looking farang guys and i even have some decentl looking farange guys interested in me from time to time. but after 5 years of living in a place that attracts teh worlds most undesireable men I am so put off by western guys. I have seen so many unhealthy, illgroomed men, that they have all sort of blurred into one. I guess im a bit prejudice. EVen after a trip back to Farang Land I was not attracted to egocentric, ethno centric caucasian men.

The guys here in phuket strive for mediocracy, they drink to much they dont excericse. After living in Bangkok I calleld it revenge of the nerds!!

Some farnag men certainly have a chip on their shoulder. I Felt at times when comming across a group of guys I would get the wrath for all the girls that never danced with them or turned them down when they were in highschol.

After

But l i just dont find them attractive any more. I think many farnags have fingers that look like fat little pink sauges if you must know the real reason. :D

Well I would say you are totally wrong, there are many farang men in Bangkok who are good hard working professionals who do know how to treat a lady.

As for the thai men, a majority of them are just lazy good for nothing layabouts, if you ever go up country into Isaan.

The men never work it is always the women who have to labour 12 hours a day whilst the men sit around drinking. Not only that I have known cases where farang women get involved with thai men.

Then the thai man start to demand money to send home to his family, they are not exactly the most generous guys, they are generally unfaithfull and think nothing of hitting their woman in a big way.

Especially if you make them lose face. Does one not think that a lot of those farang men that you meet who one may call a loser or cannot get laid at home, may have and most likely still is a decent bloke who has just had very bad relationship experiences.

Not always his fault. I think a lot of them would like a decent farang woman who can communicate with them and have similar interests. But not one who is going to abuse him.

Yes, well thanks for your input but that wasn' t really an introduction, rather a rant against Thai men. This thread is titled "Ladies, who are you" so may I suggest you check the topic title next time before posting. You are welcome to post in the Ladies Forum but please read the rules first. Cheers :o

Am an outcast. Born Thai, look Thai.

Friends say I am in between. Half Thai half evil.

So, you are a woman then?

Hi Ladies, I have already posted in the Introduce Yourself bit and have been posting a bit already since joining about a month ago. I too, am really pleased to have found this forum. I returned home (to UK) from travelling in Thailand just recently and find this a great way of keeping up, even though I am no longer there. It's also an invaluable source of info and some really interesting topics and debates!

So farang - London bird - and single. Hoping to return to Thailand (when I have enough money) but to live for a bit and work so not as a tourist...

Ho hum....

Dive Mistress - a woman with a chip on your shoulder?

MBiggs - possibly a man with a chip on your shoulder, possibly just biting when thrown the bait of Dive Mistress's sad rantings.

A pet hate of mine is racism.

Good and bad in every culture and creed. When you can learn to appreciate that, you'll be less bitter.

Chock dee my friends. :D

Welcome to the forum kindgal and krnn (belatedly, sorry ) :o

Hi, I've been lurking around for about 9 months, but thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm 22, from Australia, living in Thailand (was in Sisaket for 3 months, now in Ubon) for one year for Muay Thai, loving it so far and thinking that once I've used up my return ticket I'll probably be back again, but don't like to plan too far ahead. Really interested in seeing what other women's experiences have been like, especially with relationships etc since I have no idea how all of that stuff works over here for women.

Welcome Bellatrix! How do you like the Muay Thai? I knew a girl who did it for a few months and loved it. Was covered in bruises the first month or so, but she had a great time.

Hi ladies,

Ive been lurking for around a year now. I'm 22 from Europe, just over 7 months pregnant and living in Phuket with my boyfriend (Thai) who I'm getting married to next week thanks to new visa regulations!

A little bit lonely sometimes because I lived on the islands before as a diver and am now trying to integrate into 'real' thailand but finding it quite difficult with not being fluent in Thai and feeling like there's a huge cultural gap between me and Thai girls my age. I also discovered the hard way that the friendships you form with other farangs on the islands are often only based on geographical convenience.

Anyone else in (or been in) a similar position? I know some of you have babies too and would love to hear from you.

:o

Thanks sbk, I was training Muay Thai in Australia for about 9 months before coming here, so the bruises are nothing new hehehe. I love it though!

Miayai that's quite a story! How did you meet your man? Hope it all works out for you :o

I'm 22 taking time off after graduating college. Staying with my father in his Bangkok condo. Hope to go to law school next year.
