overherebc
Came through Poipet last week and noticed a lot or Russians coming through dressed as backpackers. They didn't have that look that backpackers have, shorts too neat and tidy, spotless T shirts and shoes that looked quite expensive and most definately well out of their twenties. Didn't look right in my eyes anyway.

Popular Post BigHornBull
In my 12th visit to Koh Samui I NEVER seen so many Russians before. Most of them keep their chin high up and think they are better then everyone else. I hope this "Bust" help`s the Thai Goverment to "rethink" the visa for alot of Russians. One bad apple can make the whole basket bad. In this case, alot of the Russian Tourists are bad apples. Sad, but true. I know many Russians, but the thing going on here in Thailand now is escalating like ants on a sugarstick! Seperate the good apples from the bad ones! Karma can bite you back, HARD!
Popular Post Opl
"Most of them keep their chin high up and think they are better then everyone else.".... It's a pain for me to witness how some of them speak to thai salaries in the shops, I try hard to keep my mouth shut because I lack vocabulary to argue with such rude people. Also now, I stopped giving politely the way to them, which they consider as a due, I do not say sorry anymore, and do my best to adapt my attitude...
Popular Post Waldemar
Maybe it's time the Thai Government rethinks it's visa policy for Russians? Jimi, why don't you ask Thai government to change their visa policy for other countries citizens since there are many criminal cases here in Thailand where other nationalities involved, not only Russians. Or you think that only Russians are all criminals?

Waldemar
Hey! Don't forget that the Russians (communists) were the sworn enemies of the Western Civilization... Right. And, of course that should be the only reason (for some people) that is good enough to issue the law preventing all of Russians from travelling or living abroad. russia-001.jpg
Popular Post itsala
So he managed to alert relatives via LINE. Meaning the "kidnappers" had left him with a mobile device, and allowed him to see the location he was staying so he could let people know. Not sure that the Russian mafia would want credit for this one, sounds like an amateur operation. Also just imagining Samui police "SWAT" mounting a raid...that would be must see, something Peewee Hermen auditioning for the SAS. ( unless they called for the assistance of all the ex special forces guys that drink in and around Bangrak) teehee.

Khman which is in Penang now for visa issues... Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but, I believe their holidays are subsidised in some way, so they arrive on a cheap package holiday, forget to fly back and start doing visa runs, 15 or 30 days while getting some kind of under the radar business going. Jimi007
Can you explain the russian visa thing? Do they have easier way to get visa and stay longtime? Khman which is in Penang now for visa issues... according to one of the moderators on this board, Poor Sucker, they allowed 30 days visa exempt by air and land. Other than that I do believe long stay visas are the same requirements that the rest of us need to meet. Somehow I doubt people on long stay visas are out kidnapping bar owners. But of course I could be proven wrong. I have been wrong once in a while before...

I understand what you are saying here, but please do not class all Russians as one race. There are many different 'types' of Russian. From Estonia, Georgia, Moscow, Siberia, all of the 'stans' etc etc. They are not all the same. However - many of the 'city' ones are very abrubt and lacking in social graces. They do not use words like please, thank you, sorry in their own environment. How can they learn to use them here? As we know - most Thais are polite and smiling. Most tourist 'city' Russians are grumpy and rude. It is just the way that they are - treat them the same - they will not be offended. This is a generalisation and of course there are many exceptions. (Most Russians that I know came here to get away from the rude ones!) I am ashamed of people from my old country sometimes (UK) - but a lot of them are very nice.

Yeah but yeah but but but but - this is like saying that there are a million new sorts of armadillo now in Thailand. Some are furry n cute with babies, others fart a lot and yet others bite your hands and feet off. What do I do, pick each one up by the tail to look to see what sort it is - Oh that's OK you're a Hardskinnystan armadillo, pass friend, gratislobovich? A rude armadillo is still a rude bastard no matter the fkuc he comes from and whether he is by himself or has babies with him. And that's without even trying to puzzle out how these armadillos get some sort of hug from the Thai visa people and I don't. For many years I was ashamed to admit I was English and told people I was from South Africa instead, such was the reputation of the tattooed shaved-head Brits. Now I reckon all the goalposts are in a new place. At least football hooligans sound off at you in English. We're being inundated by effin armadillos in plague-like proportions . . . I'm falling into entire burrows of them everywhere I go . . . R Edited February 26, 2013 by robsamui
