I bet this list will be way out of date in 12 months as Thailand elite seem to have remarkable Financial Planners who return better than 50% p.a. on investments. Wish I had access to their names... And don't you just love the way these millionaires need a pissy 100-150,000 a month salary when their wealth far surpasses any such need. Their selfless time to help Thailand and its people is just lovely. Role models to be sure.

This is the squeeze to force his hand in some kind of ongoing negotiation. Nothing to do with anti-corruption. The last thing anybody in the ruling classes here wants is real enforcement of anti-corruption legislation.

Absolutely. We'll probably see a maid or gardener who carried a bag found guilty.

If you look at the figures published then they don't amount to a lot. The Kinnocks and the Blairs have far greater declared wealth. I understand that the Bushes and their cohorts are not scratching around to pay the rent. What would be more revealing is the amount of folding stuff in the accounts of wives, the kids, near family members, the maid, the gardener etc etc. That would give a more realistic picture.

it amounts to a lot if your a rice farmer working 7 days a week for 1000baht a day

The officials here are raping thailand like I've never seen before - just a pity the uneducated think that 500baht is a lot of money and couldn't even understand or count the zero's that government officials are pumping into their pockets, I'd guess that 70% of the good Thai people if it was explained to them what's going on would not tolerate it, they have no idea just how much these crooks are raping from their pockets

Thesis adviser banked millions 'for student'
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- University thesis adviser Sombat Chantarawong yesterday gave his side of the story in regard to Bt27 million of allegedly ill-gotten wealth linked to retired Defence official Gen Satien Permthong-in.

Sombat said he got to know the Permthong-in family seven years ago while advising Satien's daughter Nichapat, who was then a student at Krirk University.

Nichapat took his advice and enrolled in graduate studies at Thammasat University. He was subsequently introduced to Nichapat's mother Nitnicha.

His involvement in the family's financial transaction began in 2011. Nitnicha cited family trouble as the reason she asked him to act as a nominee to hold Bt18 million in cash on her behalf.

He said he later decided to deposit the cash in his various bank accounts for safekeeping.

Natnicha later took the cash back before seeking and receiving his consent to buy plots of land in under his name, as a nominee.

Late last year, Natnicha informed him she had sold the plots. She then sent him a Bt27 million cheque, saying it was the earnings done in his name.

He said he had already given a statement to the National Anti-Corruption Commission, outlining his involvement in the money trail.

He said he cashed the cheque and deposited the funds in the Thammasat University Savings and Credit Cooperative.

In recent months, he has been making a series of cash withdrawals for Bt1 million to Bt2 million at a time to return the money to Natnicha.

He said Nichapat often picked up the cash on her mother's behalf.

He was unaware, he said, that the funds were ill-gotten gains. Natnicha had apologised for involving him in the transactions, he added.

Today, Sombat is scheduled to submit his financial documents to the NACC.

Claiming ignorance is a defense in Thailand? Doesnt seem to be in many of the other laws Thailand has on the books.

This gets funnier by the day. It is all just propaganda. 90% of these traitors are on the take, stealing the country's land (forestry commission land and more), creaming off 30 - 50% off the mega projects the keep dreaming up and not even bothering to hide heir Bentley's and Burberry's. it is open season to rape the middle class and working class of their taxes left after he police have taken their cut. You could investigate just about an Thai official an see they could not possibly account for their assets. Their cars alone, they wold struggle to pay for.

It's a simple Thai game. Offer up some crackdown, investigation or prosecution of anyone anywhere to pretend something is being done. Ramp it up when there is no way to pretend anymore and feel safe in the knowledge you have bought the continued stupidity of the populace with a few redundant glass beads (computer tablets) given to students with teachers with no morals and even less knowledge, safe in the knowledge that you can continue to steal from them by maintaining their ignorance.

How convenient most of the electorate cannot think. How convenient to keep it that way.

Anyone see a pattern here i.e Police or General and riches?

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has reported 178 million baht. 6 million USD

Defence Minister Gen Yutthasak Sasiprapa has reported 380 million baht. 12.8 million USD

Deputy Transport Minister Pol Lt Gen Chat Kuldilok has reported 174 million baht. 5.9 million USD

Justice Minister Pol Gen Pracha Promnok has reported 279 million baht. 9.4 million USD

Our hero Chalerm was " only " a Pol Captain and recently both of his sons posted assets of B50 Million each. How do a couple of thugs generate such wealth especially when one was the on run for a considerable period of time ? Sorry I asked
