Chiropractors

Anyone know of a good Chiropractor, ive had this week long pain where my outer arm meets my shoulder and think its slightly dislocated or something, or maybe a pinched nerve on the left of the neck.

Went to a blind masseuse and he damn near killed me, I wont be trying that again.

Any recommendations? Acupuncture?

Or try the Physical Therapy Department at Rajavej. Khun Diow is wonderful. And there is a Chiropractor from the U.K. there that gets good reviews.

Anything in the shoulder that might be caused through a nerve being squeezed in the neck, needs a thorough examination. An x-ray might be sufficient to show if a cervical vertebrae might be compressed and squeezing a nerve.

IMO you should not let anyone start cracking your neck!

I see Electrified has just recommended the physiotherapy department at Rajavej and I agree with him that they do excellent work. Maybe speak to them and they will point you in the right direction.......might be the best 200 Baht you've spent.

I definitely recommend the U.K. chiropractor at Rajavej. He has access to all their equipment and could order an x-ray if one is in order and/or refer to an orthopedic specialist.

Over the years, I've gone to chiropractors in both the U.S. and U.S.-trained ones in Thailand for lower back pain that comes and goes. A few sessions usually helped, but the U.K. chiropractor at Rajavej seemed to have "cured" my problem in one visit by showing me some yoga exercises which I do faithfully every morning. Haven't had the back problem return and it's been months since I've seen him.

Highly recommended.

Go to the PT Dept. @ Rajavej first. Talk with the therapists. 200 THB for their time. If you need to see the Chiropractor, I believe he charges 900 THB for a consultation. If you need an X-ray about 300-500 THB.

Yeah, he'll probably book you in for a bone fusion at great expemse that will ruin you for life, plus toss in some cortico-steroids and a whole raft of other toxic drugs on kickback to boot. If that is your thing then fine but you shouldn't inflict that kind of misery on others. To the OP try every thing under the sun first, physio, chiropractic, acupuncture before you let the doctors stuff you up, they are generally not good with these type of things.

Listen to good sense. Thai doctors are very much oriented to intensive physical assessment, and are generally averse to drug treatment.

I have considerable experience in this specific topic, and would very much discourage you from seeking help from a chiropracter.

My diagnostic experiences at Sriphat/ Maharaj and Rajavej have been very good. They were spot on when US doctors utterly failed.

Even if you do require an MRI, which I did, you're looking at less than 10K baht for a test that costs thousands in the US.

I have a lot of experience with chiropractor's with great success. I can highly recommend the chiropractor at Rajavej he helped me a lot. The physio department there was no help as they did not know what was wrong. I had gone there on the advice of a bone specialist. Turned out there was nothing they could do other than a heating pad.

Don't get me wrong the exercise they recommended is a good one even if you are perfectly healthy. The chiropractor made one adjustment and took away 2/3 of the pain. He informed me that he could do no more. He could have said nothing and had me coming back every week. Not so two visits and that was it.

My pain was Arthritis related. I at one time had pains in my arms that nothing I tried could help. Finally I talked to a chiropractor who was working out at a gym I worked out at and he told me that my problems could very well be side effects of Lipotar that I was taking for my cholesterol. I stopped taking them and the problem went away. The cholesterol problem has now gone away due to taking niacin.

I would not be listing to much to some one who recommends a chiropractor for a pinched nerve. By the same token when I put both my hips out I did not go to see a specialist for the nerve system or a dentist. I saw a chiropractor and received a degree of prompt relief. I had to miss a few days of work and go back twice but he solved the problem.

Physio would not have helped as I was in much pain every time I moved.

what I am saying is don't knock one profession because it did not solve a problem that was covered by another profession.

Personally I hope no one ever gets into that predicament when the only treatment is a chiropractor.

The only time I ever had a pinched nerve it required surgery to relieve it.

Hold on here...A chiropractor with a consultation fee of 900 bahts? A total college education of maybe 2 years. whereas a REAL doctor goes to university and puts in residency of a minimum of 7 years and here in Thailand at Sriphat receives 200 bahts and the Ram 300 bahts. Give me a break.

According to people I have known over the years that were Chiropractors (as well as a quick google search to confirm my memory), "a student in North America should expect to complete at least 7-8 years of post-secondary education in order to become a doctor of chiropractic." It appears Canada requires 4 years full-time University after receiving a B.S. so about 7-8 years there too, 6 years full-time University in South Africa, while 5 years in Australia. Don't know how you came up with "maybe 2 years".

The Doctor here in C.M. is licensed in the U.K. and Thailand I don't know how many years the requirement there is.

Edit: I just looked at his website: 7 years University education, as well as many very impressive credentials.

We all have are beliefs.

For my self I have no problem paying the 900 baht for the service of a chiropractor who can fix the problem.

My health does not have a price on it. Also a chiropractor does not come with a list of prescriptions. There is a money saving item right there. A chiropractor does not recommend expensive surgeries or hospital stays. Both items that can cost more than 200 or 300 baht. A chiropractor is an all in cost no down the line big bills.

Chiropractor's all so claim that they can help prevent physical problems. I can not really say on that it does stand to reason that a proper alignment of a spine would be beneficial but beyond feeling better tghan an out of align spine I can not say. I believe there is some thing in the claim tho. T%hat is just a belief. For facts if needed a chiropractor has brought me relief no 299 or 300 baht intern could unless he had chiropractic training.
