Just wondering how fellow Brits are coping with the demise of £ sterling v Thai Baht.I reckon it cost me double coming to Thailand this year compared to 5 years ago if you take into account Thai inflation and 50% loss in value of British £ v Thai Bt over the past 5 years.

The British Economy is similar to the Titanic slowly sinking.

5.2 billion pounds tax payer owned Royal bank of Scotland annual losses yesterday.

5 years ago a 1 month family trip to LOS cost me £2.5k.

The same trip this year, we are looking at £6/7k.

Well the Yanks were crying into their blueberry pancakes a little while ago, then the Euro boys were panicking so I guess it's our turn.

Gotta feel for the folks relying on pensions and savings in our doomed currency.

Two good things about though; 1) it's great if you're sending baht back to the UK to pay mortgages or other expenses and 2) there are far fewer pissed up, loud-mouthed, wannabe-gangsters lowering the tone at Bangkok's better watering holes.

2) is a definite advantage from this. Now I think about it, bring on 20 Baht to the pound!

I agree with all the posts, looking for flights for summer hols in UK to visit Thai and all over £2300 before I've even ordered a taxi to LHR and they're with Aeroflot!!!!

6 odd years ago we were paying £434 per adult on EVA and less for a child inc. taxes!

The taxi to airport was a tenner, now £25.

Hotels more expensive as is food, drink etc. I can't actually think of anything that's the same price!!!'

For us we'll have to pay £5,000 whereas last year 2 weeks at the Hilton Bonnet Creek Orlando with food, Disney tickets, car etc etc cost us £6,000. Great hol other than the rain.

People keep telling me that Thai is cheap and we must save loads with my wife being Thai, I just laugh these days, its not cheap anymore.

What with my job ending soon things are rough but you need to keep going although I was down for a bit.

If others can live off benefits and less money I am sure I can until I find a job.

I'd like to say that for once its an interesting post and I look forward to it hopefully being kept on track, finger crossed as I'd like to know what others also think.

Best regards to all.
