Was looking at nuvi 40. It has a different map from the other models i think it was called TPI map

Is it OK? I live in Chiang Mai. Or otherwise do i need to buy the esri map?

I am sorry but I never heard of a TPI Map.

I think the ESRI (or nowadays called NOSTRA) map comes standard with any Garmin GPS you buy in Thailand nowadays. And it's (IMHO) also the best map for Thailand.

Working fine everywhere apart from chiang mai. It seems to shit itself when driving around the north side of the moat and the roads around there

If you are having trouble with TSM v.2012.40, which is most unusual, try and exchange the map for TSM v.2012.30 (where you bought the map) or wait fore the next version map to be published and download it from the internet. Free when downloaded within 1 year.
