Hello there,

We are looking to spend a couple of months or so in Koh Samui. Could you please
recommend a good area for us to stay and rent?

We are looking for:

- close to a nice market that sells a lot of fruit

- pleasant and green, away from noisy roads

- close to a gym

- close to a running stadium

- relatively close to a place where we can do our hobbies, like playing
snooker and attending dance classes (sorry, I know this one is very specific,
just wondering which town would suit us best).

Which part would you recommend? If you know any good places to rent, please
also let us know! Looking for a house/apartment for 2 people, my husband and I, around 9,000TB per month.

Thank you in advance!

For most of your requirements, I would say that Lamai is your best bet.

- close to a nice market that sells a lot of fruit Everywhere

- pleasant and green, away from noisy roads Lamai, Maenam, Plai Laem, Choengmon

- close to a gym Lamai, Chaweng, Maenam, Bangrak. Plai Laem Choengmon

- close to a running stadium Lamai

- relatively close to a place where we can do our hobbies, like playing

snooker and attending dance classes Snooker - not sure. Pool - everywhere, Dance classes Plai Laem, Chaweng

Looking at your price range, probably Lamai, Maenam

I think there is now a snooker hall in Bangrak now, 200 metres before Petcharat Marina (but set back off the road) on the RHS driving towards Bophut.

There is one with 6 or 8 tables near the ring road, Chaweng.

Turn at the lights just below Tesco towards the lake and it's about 2-300 metres set back on the LHS

There's snooker halls everybody tourist don't go.

I know 3 place on Soi Haad Ngam in Chaweng, only Thai spoken.

I go to the second one I mentioned (maybe the same one you are talking about, I don't know the name of the road it's on)..only Thai spoken there...so what's the problem? There is a bar with very reasonable prices and you pay for the table by the hour...not expensive.

It's air-conditioned and the only problem I have is that smoking is allowed. Not particularly noticeable when you are there, but your clothes smell of smoke when you get home.

Never had to wait for a table during the day, never been in the evening.

That's very helpful, thank you so much!

Does anyone go dancing? Can you recommend a good place for Latin classes?

Not Latin in the strictest sense, but the Easy Bar in Plai Laem (just after the turning to Big Buddha - next to Grandmas Place) do Salsa and some Latin dances every Thursday plus some other nights.

Is it a good place? The folks who go enjoy it. Quite a friendly bunch.

I am not sure what dancing is tought now at Big C. (The place - not the person!)
