I am trying to find a shop which does the modifications to bikes, turning it into a 3 wheeler. Basically, now i have a bike with a side car which i use for taking my dogs out, but it is getting old and needs updating. While it is great for the purpose, having soi dogs run along every day makes it difficult not to mention drives my dogs crazy. So what i want to do, is convert a new bike into a 3 wheeler and put the sidecar on the back, so its sort of like a tuk tuk. I know someone does it in Pattaya, because i have seen a couple on the road already, but never had a chance to ask them. I am also aware i can just buy a tuk tuk, however those cost a fortune and can not be registered. So anyone know or seen the shop capable of doing it? If I remember correctly, it is on the left side of the road, near the market place, (old market). There were about 7 side cars outside today. If I remember correctly, it is on the left side of the road, near the market place, (old market). There were about 7 side cars outside today. I know which one, but the can only do the side car on the side, i already have that. I actually want to modify the bike to put the side car at the back of the bike not the side. This shop does not know how, and few others i had visited also do not know. Wish i had a pic to explain better what i want to achieve Just picture something like a pick up truck, only in a bike form. The modified bike and bikes with side car do not need a registration, ie you make the modifications after you have the bike, and it is all thats needed. The picture was taken in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which is full of these modified bikes, where they are used as taxis. I am amazed that they have not come to Pattaya -- they are much more comfortable than tuk tuks and look cool. The cart on the back is securely anchored to the bike (with a ball and cup mechanism) which keeps the bike upright all the time. Just need a hitch added to the frame and a suitable trailer added (don't forget lights and indicators). If you want to be really upmarket you can put brakes on the trailer operated by the brake light circuit. All the technology is used in caravans. ANY modifications made to a bike after its registered,from just changing a header to adding a sidecar, adding an extra wheel, etc, are ALL illegal - you may get away with it (many do) but that doesn't mean that its legal or that your bike cannot be confiscated and impounded at any time (many are!). In theory i can fly, I have a bike with a side car for 3 years as i have already stated 3 times, and never had an issue to re-register it or being stopped by the police. Again as i stated, i am looking for a shop that can modify the bike to what i need,which clearly indicates i KNOW what i want. Euan would probably get one of Dew's guys to make it and I think either of the two in Huay Yai would probably do a better job, cheaper, but he could probaby get one botched together. Carries people, food and other items about. If you do not find a place and you are down that way maybe you could ask. She used to be at home quite often.
