Currently thinking about getting a job in Bangkok. I'm a IT specialist with 10 years experience mostly in Unix field. Could work as SysAdmin, QA, Project Manager, whatever, just don't send me home :-)

Posted my CV on several boards but so far - no results. Is it possible to find IT position in Bangkok?

Does anyone have any help and advice about this.

Couple of things:

Where are you, you really need to be in Bangkok to start the job hunt

What salary are you asking for (its not much use if you are quoting a British / USA salary and expect similar)

What differentiates you from the local staff, ie what do you bring to the party?

Language - can you speak / read / write Thai, do you have an understanding of doing business in Asia / Thailand.

These are just a few points, but you will face an uphill battle but ultintly there are positions every now and again

Yes, my current location is Bangkok, I guess I can handle 2000 smackers or even less, I realize that Thailand is not a right place for big bucks. What differentiates me from local stuff? Probably descent experience in developing several concepts for running IT companies, ability to organize working flow, quite rare skills such as implementing Suse Linux on IBM s390 Z-series ....

Language - no Thai, only English, Russian, Hebrew and some sanskrit :-)
