Anyone Know About Condos Near Central Pinklao / Ratchaphruk?

Can anyone recommend any places to live over the river, in between Central Pinklao and Ratchaphruk road, or in that sort of area?

Sort of over the river between Taksin bridge and Pinklao bridge.

This is a link to the area on Google Maps

What is life like over there? Are there many Western shops and places to eat/drink?

Is accommodation cheaper over there?

A three bedroom house or apartment would be good, perhaps 100 m sq.

Thanks.

There are 3 or 4 big condos, Lumpini Place or something like that on the main road.

Lots of Western shops, 2 cinemas and a huge Tescos.

Off the main drag is cheaper still but a bit seedier at the Rama 8 bridge area.

Townhouses and other houses are more expensive as Ratchapruek is on the new BTS route and most of the moobaans are in that area.

Heading past Ratchapruek down by the Southern Bus Terminal you'll find a lot of houses to rent but it requires a fair bit of driving around and the ability to read Thai to find them.

There's a few big condos near Pata Pinklao/Central.

There's the Lumpini one, which is probably the newest, but a bit far out. Then there's the two near the river, both 'duplex'. One is right on the bank of the river and probably rather expensive. I forgot the name about the other, but is just opposite PATA Pinklao down a small road. It is two times 40 stories and used to have a very nice pool until it went bankrupt. Don't know if it is up an running yet.

If you choose somewhere beyond Central towards Taling Chan or down Ratchapreuk a word of warning about this area. The traffic is usually terrible. Coming from town across the Pinklao bridge is a nightmare. There is so much merging and lane reductions. Also coming from Ratchapruek going towards the bridge is just as bad. We live in a moo baan off Ratchapreuk and the traffic is usually horrendous both ways.

Thanks for the replies. I guess we will need to head over the river and have a look around.

Thanks. We are moving to be nearer work thanks to an upcomming change of jobs. Hopefully being nearer work will help avoid some of the traffic problems.

.The condos went bankrupt? But people still live there? Thanks.

No, the pool area and fitness center went bankrupt. But this was 4-5 years ago, so they probably fixed it by now :-)

Hi

Its a late reply to your posting, but yes there are lots of "western" shops, cinemas etc.

There are three cinemas within a 5 minute drive

There are three tesco stores, and two topps supermarkets with a 5 minute drive, and a foodland about 10 mins away

You are near to the southern bus terminal, grand palace and Khoa san road area.

LPN have built many condos in the are

Lumpin PLace

Lumpini place Pinklao 2

Lumpini Suite

Lumpi Park

Q house have just completed a development there also.

Off the top of my head there is/are

2 McDonalds

2 KFC

2 Fuji

2 MK restaurants in Pinklao

and much much more

There is a central shopping centre, a major shopping centre and a new central "Boutique" shopping centre being built

If interested I have a 1 bed (2 year old condo) for sale/let or a 2 bed (just completed) for sale or let

1 bed is 8500 to rent or 2 million to buy

2 bed is 16000 to rent or 3.8 million to buy

The major disadvantage that I can think of is the traffic in the area which is quite heavy

Hope this helps a little
