Hi all

Well been living here over 2 months now. I was a bit unsure to start with, but now feel really at home. I manage OK with the money, have moved into a great apartment, its really quite and ideal for me. Have met a nice girl, and life is looking

good. I know there are a fair few who knock Pattaya, but I love it here, riding around on the scooter, being able to sit on a beach anytime of the year, step out of my apartment and have a dip in the pool ... Its great.

Just thought I would pass this on .... Its great for a bit of free UK TV, and Sky news is great to watch with breakfast.

To get UK TV, first download and install their program on your PC from here:

http://122.155.6.210/UKTVSetup.exe

Once installed, run the program and enjoy UK TV.

All channels are streamed "live", about 5 minutes behind real time. There's also a program info display from which you can select and play any program from the last 5 days.

Had to look twice this morning at this post. I wrote the post over 13 years ago. Someone reacted to it, which sent it out again.

Although I stated I'd been here for 2 months when I wrote it, I meant Pattaya. I'd been in Thailand since 2010.

So, 16 years later, I am still here. Married for 13 years and enjoying life.

I've become an author and had reasonable success. I've had 17 books published, including Pattaya Dangerous and Pattaya Calling. Along with a true story, 3 Nights in Thailand.

Still enjoying riding around on my scooter and all that goes with this beautiful climate.

My initial reply timed out so I'll try again. Screenshot.

Correction: "SELF-published". It's not the same. Let's not exaggerate our "successes", shall we, Trevor.

Published?, self-published? Why do you care?

Anybody who has the discipline to put pen to paper and complete even one book and gets it into print, self-paid or not gets my respect. To have had the tenacity to write 17 books is admirable.

Perhaps you could enlighten us on your accomplishments or "successes" in the last decade so we have something to measure by.

If you were a reader, you would know that "self-published" = crap.

It's analogous to YouTubers listing the number of "movies they produced". It's not the same.

The post is clearly an attempt to drum up interest in his crappy output so he can earn a few more pennies from Amazon. His post is a poorly disguised advertisement for his books. Suckers might fall for it.

If Trevor tries to advertise on ASEAN Now, he has to accept the possibility of people saying his product is crap. That's the last I'm going to say about it, since a prolonged discussion might draw more attention to the thread.

I'm the one who resurrected the post because I remembered his board name and story all these years later.

He had such a positive outlook and handled the naysayers in the comments with aplomb. He outlined his budget of around 36k baht/month and seemed to be living a very happy life. Rented a place in Baan Suan Lalana for 5 or 6k, not drinking to excess and found a nice lady. That condo was out in the boonies back then but had decent sized rooms and nice swimming pools.

I don't read Pattaya literature but I wish him success in his writing endeavour.
