March 8, 201313 yr Be interested where the finances for this are coming from in Thailand. I hope he has done his contingencies on domestic market, as I cannot see people getting of an international flight and driving 6 hours to get to Buriram which has limited infrastructure as it is. He would be better of building an airport as well- if he is serious about getting proper races their, or better still spend the 2 billion on better infrastructure of Buriram for the people he obviously loves so much:) Hopefully this guy will eventually end up sharing a cell with Kamnan Poh the Silpa Archa family and alike. Very soon coming to Buriram, King Power shopping plaza with a runway in the parking lot. So you both have missed the runway incorporated into the track where K. Newin can land his private jet.....I hope he makes a roaring success of this venture
March 8, 201313 yr Shouldve made it chiang mai, its already a world class motorcycle riding destination. But i suppose a closer proximity to BKK would be better for the masses.
March 8, 201313 yr On the plus side......... Thailand does need a decent motor racing circuit. On the minus side.......In Buriram? What important races does he invisage..... the Chidchob International Trophy? Tilke.
March 8, 201313 yr Finally!! A decent circuit is truly needed in Thailand. Motorsports are huge in Thailand (and growing) but there aren't enough decent tracks, especially ones that are large and well designed. My only disappointment will be the number of years it will take to get it to opening. One thing you do have to commend K. Newin on - he makes a plan and sticks to it provided the numbers stack up. He did it for football, I hope he does it for racing. 'Motorsports are huge in Thailand' so where's this huge Motorsport base as in track racing ? outside Bangkok it doesn't exist.
March 8, 201313 yr Yes Thailand needs many decent raing cirsuits its a joke that Malaysia has many Thailand is still living in the past. We definitly need one in Phuket other than the streets.

Yes sad we need a track here in Phuket badly

If you reckon Bangkok is the hub of Thai motorsport, then where are Bangkok's race tracks then? Ratchada/Rama IX and the Highway 9 bypass don't count! To be honest, the only track that I know of is Bira, just outside Pattaya. It has a steady, seasonal draw from Asian saloon car races, bike races, that odd-ball 'drift' racing as well as the famous bike week. Bangkok has a motor show... and that's about it.

Bangkok doesn't need any more attractions. Even if it hosts an F1, it will be of fleeting interest. Planning anything for the impoverished northeast always gets the city dwellers all riled up. 'If you build it, they will come.'.... usually.
March 8, 201313 yr Popular Post Do you bitter expats never get tired of criticising whatever is done here by anyone?? In any other country this guy would be considered an entrepreneur. Yes I know, that he is not exactly the cleanest of the clean. Which probably goes for most politicians in most countries. As this is a project by a Thai for Thais, it doesn't affect your petty lives in any way, so give it a rest. Most of the posters here have clearly never left Patts, so let me inform you that the roadinfrastructure between Bkk and Buriram is absolut excellent, and Buriram already has an airport already! The Buriram FC venture has created more than a cashflow for the owners, for the first time people from the area actually take pride in being from Isaan, all because of Mr Newins footballclub. And I am sure that the new circuit will create more of the same (and jobs).
March 8, 201313 yr Newin is suffering from megalomania and nobody is asking where he got the money from. Let me guess it is something over which his mentor ordered the killing of hundreds. Your lack of concern for Thailand shows through in your dislike for Newin. Like my old criminology instructor used to say. Most people think the whole world is like their back yard. It sounds to me like you have a very messy back yard,

Timed right Bangkok could have the worlds only F1 with water wings.
March 8, 201313 yr Shouldve made it chiang mai, its already a world class motorcycle riding destination. But i suppose a closer proximity to BKK would be better for the masses. F-------the masses. Just kidding. But they could still put in a motorbike one here and I think it would add to the excitement. The sport only has one way to go and that is up. thank God/Buddha/Allah for that. The only thing that can stop it is the Government.

The very idea of his old nemesis coming up in the world without him.
March 8, 201313 yr Interesting thread. Newin is very much disliked by the red shirts. I never realized their was so many expats siding with the red shirts.
March 8, 201313 yr Shouldve made it chiang mai, its already a world class motorcycle riding destination. But i suppose a closer proximity to BKK would be better for the masses. I could just see Newin doing that in Thaksin's backyard. If Newin could have controlled Chiang Mai instead/as well as Buriram, I am sure he would have put the track there. (Perhaps if Chiang Mai FC didn't play in pink he might have domiciled his football team there as well )

Raising the standard of living of Buriram people and sticking it to the fugitive.
March 8, 201313 yr Well you can't get money off the top unless you spend money. Remember the Silpa Archa family? Ten percent from each contract signed. It was no wonder that he was know as Mr 10%. Ten percent of each contract for this should bring in lots of money.

March 8, 201313 yr Good on newin for doing this i think its great news just a little bit closer to bangkok would have been nice.
March 8, 201313 yr I think it is a great idea & I hope he pulls it off. I agree with the comments about F1 too. It's an awful pity that it is moving more & more to street circuits, which, apart from the danger, just lead to more boring races. Still, if he manages to build it, upgrading to F1 standard shouldn't be too big a deal. I'd certainly be willing to travel from Bangkok to Buriram for a FIM race meeting - much more exciting than the cars

March 8, 201313 yr OK, so they can manage to plan finance and get a concrete agreement on something of little interest to most Thais and falangs, but they seem to be incapable of doing something of far greater importance such as dealing with the flooding around Bangkok!

March 8, 201313 yr I see a drag strip. Top fuels crap all over circuit racing. Yeah, cos driving in a straight line is SO exciting!

March 8, 201313 yr I see a drag strip. Top fuels crap all over circuit racing. Yeah, cos driving in a straight line is SO exciting! Yep, accelerating to 500km/h in 4 seconds is pretty exciting!

March 8, 201313 yr Only people who haven't seen it. Correction, you don't see a Top Fuel you feel it.
March 8, 201313 yr Popular Post I hear he means to make it a uniquely Thai racing experience. With a dead dog on each corner, a herd of buffalo randomly roaming about the field, spilt sugar canes and loose gravel strategically placed on the best racing line, the odd overturned sip-lor, complete with fleeing driver, a number of cars choosing to go in the opposite direction, the obligatory drunk on a motorcycle weaving along while looking at his own back wheel, and a policeman who jumps out in front of the leader, trying to extract money for speeding.
