Hash Browns, Anyone?

I'm not American, but I've holidayed there numerous times and I've always enjoyed the hash brown potatoes (as well as many other things, of course). I noticed these on sale in Tesco Lotus South Pattaya a while back at 285 Baht a box, so I gave them a go.

They're dead easy to make, and a third of a cup portion is plenty for one person (though they are so good that you can always eat more), and a box contains 55 portions that size (that's the dried potato portion, which expands to around two-thirds of a cup when its been hydrated with warm or hot water). Anyway, I am very impressed with this product, it's really tasty and dead easy to make. Tesco currently only has around 4 or 5 boxes left, so if anyone else likes US style hash browns then give them a try. They're in the 'Foods of the World' section. The expiry date is September, so there's plenty of time left.

That looks really good. Idaho, by the way, is "potato country" in the USA. Hash-browns is something I really miss. The frozen stuff you can buy and some restaurants serves is SH%T. I would imagine that they are not that difficult to make from scratch.

A genuinely useful no one bashing thread. Thanks. I am a Brit but like something different occasionally with my breakfast.

Sometimes Mackro has them too for those who can get there. The are quite good.

But why buy a dehydrated hash brown with preservatives that comes in a box when you can have fresh potatoes and use a cheese grater, form it into patties and fry them? Much cheaper and it's fresh food!

It is very easy to make the real thing using potatoes. I've made them for decades...now my Thai wife does.

Can sometimes buy the frozen Hash Brown's at Big C.

Have to search around the areaof frozen chips. Never have many in stock.

Saying that, it was,a while back when in Pattaya that I bought some so maybe don't stock now.
