Kalasin Or Khon Kaen Hospital?

Hello good people of Isaan

Our little baby girl is due to be born end April and I am looking for advice/recommendations on Kalasin and Khon Kaen hospitals.

The last time my little lady had a check up her doctor said that maybe she will need a Caesarean section and we do not feel confident about our local hospital carrying out the Op.

Maybe you could share your experiences (good or bad) with either of these hospitals to help us with our final choice as to where our baby will be delivered.

Thanks for your advice Canopus,have already had a second opinion and they said that it was also possible because how the baby is positioned now.

He did say however that there was still time for her to move into the correct position and that a normal delivery could be had.

Just trying to get peoples opinions/experiences on the two hospitals now.

If by Khon Kaen Hospital you mean the University Hospital (Srinagarind), it is absolutely the besy medical facility in the Issan area. She will get good quality care, and they will not push for a c-section unless it is medically indicated. Should there be any problem with the baby they have the proper neo-natal ICU facilities to manage it, an important consideration

If by Kalasin Hosp you mean the government provincial hospital, it is a level below KKU Hosp in care and indeed would have to refer any serious complication there. So between the 2 there is no question KKU is the best choice.

However, it is usually not possible for the husband to be present at the birth in a government hospital, and if that is important to you and your wife then you might need to look at private options (which will cost considerably more).

BTW all the hospitals in KKC are competent for maternity. It's just a matter of how many of your friends and neighbors you choose to hang out with in the waiting room. KK Ram or Rajapreuk: dozens. The public hospitals and Srinikharin: hundreds.

How many months your wife is pregnant already? Our baby boy also was wrong positioned but the Dr will normally check the position again before the baby is due. Our Dr too advised for a C section because he just build himself a nice house for over 10 million Baht and wants to raise more cash.

She only has another six weeks to go,won't let the local Doctor anywhere near her when the time comes!!! Besides the fact the everyone thinks he is incompetent,if there are any problems prior to the delivery then she would be referred to a larger hospital anyway.....that is why we think it is better to go to the city hospital in the first place.

Yes I am sure that the big hospitals in the capital are better,but 600+ km's travel is a bit much.....even for someone that isn't pregnant.

We are pretty much decided on Khon Kaen,going to stay with her Uncle in Kranuan before the little one is due,only 30 minutes drive to Khon Kaen from there.
