Delhi sexual assault accused Ram Singh hangs himself in jail

(Reuters) - The driver of the bus in which a young Indian woman was gang-raped and murdered three months ago hanged himself in New Delhi's Tihar jail on Monday, TV news reports said.

Ram Singh was the main accused of five men and a juvenile who were put on trial for the attack on the 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist. The assault triggered nationwide protests and an intense debate about rampant crime against women in India.

Took the easy way out. I think the just punishment for all of them is toss them to the rabble and let the people dole out the justice. Didn't take courage to do what he did, he showed the usual spinelessness of a follower and went along with his mates. Doesn't take guts when you're on the outnumbering side.

They should now put the others on suicide watch so the public can see them cower and plead while being fitted with their own neckties.

In the old days when a man appeared before the Magistrate covered in cuts and bruised, the standard answer was "He fell down the cell steps Your Honour"....... Everyone knew that the person in question did not accidentally fall.

To me, Chicog's post implies that the full facts are laid before the bench and a verdict be arrived at before we make comments on the matter. It's amazing to me that there a number of reports which get a huge amount of attention in one particular bias, only for new facts to be reported and the bias then swings the other way.

The point is, however awful the act, he was not proven guilty. Unless you have an abiding belief in Indian police investigative prudence, he was not proven guilty. I have no belief in Western law when it suits a quick result to sooth the masses, do you have enough understanding of the ways of Indian justice.

Find the assailants, prove them guilty or not and if guilty, hit them with the full weight of the governing law.

You can take it however you like it. The TV Justice system doesn't adhere to the normal rules of justice, after all. In fact TV CSI's have solved most crimes before they've even found a suspect.

Animals are being killed without courts orders.

Ram Singh has faced alternative justice.

They came with cell keys,no CCTV cameras,roommates sleeping ,no witnesses.
