My wife drew my attention to a post on her Facebook posted be some Thai gal in Doncaster UK. It breifly describes a nasty situation one of her Thai friends has found herself in.

Just thought I'd cut / paste ~ share with everyone. Heads up eh!

I can't believe this actually happened. My close Thai friend married with

western guy they have a son travel together to HauHin Thailand. Aka:
The land of smile. My friend went to exchange money at KrungsriAyuthaya
Bank which is opposite Hillton hotel. This women worker in that bank
found 1of the bank note was fake then she took my friend to the police
station and lock her in jail for 2days. My friend was shocked because
she didn't know one of the bank note was fake. The police said they need
£10,000 to finish off this case. That happened with me before in uk the
bank just kept that note. I find my friend is a victim of Thailand's
system this people are abusing. I spoke to her she said can't wait to
leave this country, Amazing Thailand!!! Rip off land.
เตือนไว้เป็นอุธาหรณ์เกิดขึ้นจริงกับเพื่อนที่แต่งงานกับต่างชาติโดนคนไทยด้วยกันขูดรีดไถ ใครก็ตามที่จะกลับไทยให้ระวังไว้เลยเอาเงินสดไปแลกที่เคาร์เตอร์ธนาคาร ให้ตรวจดูเงินก่อนว่ามีปลอมหรือไม่ งั้นจะโดนพวกธนาคารมันพาไปเข้าคุก ถ้ามันเจอหนึ่งใบในนั้นเป็นแบงก์ปลอม ตอนนี้เรื่องที่เกิดกับเพื่อนที่หัวหินเรื่องยังไม่เสร็จเลย พวกมันจะเอาเงินให้ได้ มันไม่ส่งเรื่องขึ้นศาล เพื่อนครบกำหนดกลับมาที่อังกฤษแล้วแต่ยังกลับไม่ได้มันยึดเอาเอกสารเดินทางไว้หมดเลย นี่เหรอเมืองไทยที่ใครๆภูมิใจนักหนา มีที่ไหนในโลกนี้ เอาเงินไปแลกเจอเงินปลอมใบเดียวโดนจับเข้าคุก เจอคดีอาญา เพื่อนก็แค่นักท่องเที่ยวเก็บเงินตลอดปีเพื่อที่จะได้ไปเที่ยว ไม่รู้จักคนใหญ่โตมาช่วย คนไทยที่ยื่นมือมาช่วยประกันตัวออกไปก็ต้องจ่ายค่าจ้างเขา ต่างชาติยังมีน้ำใจมากกว่านี่เหรออเมซิ่งไทยแลนด์ น่าจะเปลี่ยนเป็นรีดไถแลนด์นะ

If it was a banknote in the currency of the country she'd been travelling in, I could see why they'd be suspicious.

If it was a Thai note, then not so much.

BTW Google seems to be indexing TV faster than FB?

interesting.. If they got it from an ATM and still got locked up or penalized then that is really screwed up.

I guess if your not working illegally and getting your funds from an ATM which can document your chain of custody of a bill then I would think little to worry about.

Or maybe not... Does an ATM track serial numbers of bills it dispenses?

Really need more details of this incident and corroboration of facts such as bill denominations etc. Was this Thai or foreign currency?
