Why do you suppose they are so very few and far between--in the suburban shopping centers like Big C and nowhere within walking distance of downtown or where tourists can access them? None at the airport, for example... Have the banks frozen them out?

my understanding (and i could be wrong) is that the govt controls exactly how many ATMs any/every foreign bank is allowed to place in the country. Then, given the government allotment, the foreign bank decides where they want to put them... with that perspective, perhaps we are lucky to have any here in CM at all... much more flow of money in BKK....

I think i also read where the govt is going to loosen up some of those restrictions... but not sure of the timetable.

Because it is a creditcard company and is therefore represented in shoppingmalls or centra's. The nearest for the moat is at Siam tv near the south gate as far as I know.

Depends on where you live. Also one at the It in airport mall.

both in high priced item department. They have to be making money some where down the line on them.

If you are looking for one of their ATM's, look on their web site they have the ATM locations listed. It is kind of misleading, though. You have to look for ATM and Depositor to get the full list.

Could someone describe how to get to the Siam TV one? I tried to googlemap it and ends up in the sois. I have been bicycling from TP road to the mall, which isn't so bad but could be a lot better. Thanks!

It is on the outside of the moat on the south side of the old city. From Thai Pai road just follow the moat going south and it will turn to the West keep on following it about 3/4 of the way to the SW corner. You can't miss it a big building with a big parking lot out front. Some times they set up big tent sales in it.

Happy biking.

one of the Aeon issues in past threads

Aeon is not connected to a bank so if there is a problem like the machine being low or out of cash

then it's really hard to get the transaction issue rectified.

Has anyone had a problem like this?

The one at STV is just outside a branch. I used the ones in KK, UTH, and Korat kast Summer. A free ATM, and a cheap laundry deal..........save $$$$.

Thanks! That was easy enough. Tried to google map Siam TV once and it had me go down the soi right before Wulai and down to the creek or something lime that.

Aeon Bank branch in Thailand? Really?

Yes Aeon is a Japanese bank but there was a thread about a few people who get debited for a full transaction but the machine was low in cash and they had to call customer service and it was a big hassle to get the transaction adjusted.

Yes, safer to use the branch ATM's at either Tesco or the Airport Plaza. At very least you can watch them stare at you blankly when you complain about the faulty machine.

I used the one in Siam TV today. I had an issue with my withdrawal, my fault though. I went inside to ask what I was doing wrong and one of the girls came outside with me and she stayed until I finally goof slapped myself into remembering I had blocked access to my savings account at ATMs. She stayed with me until I got some money transferred from my savings to my chequing via my iPhone bank app and got the cash I went there for. The service offered was, in my opinion, top of the line.
