Didn't mean to ruffle antybody's feathers. If you care to hit the report button have at it!

I was only trying to stress the point that the receipt is not your tax return, the PND1 is your tax return. It will only show the amount that you had to pay when you visited the tax office, if you have already overpaid and due not owe anything it will be zero. It only shows that you have settled your tax account for the calendar year.

I am looking at two of my returns, one where I owed taxes and one where they owed me a refund.

On the one that I owed taxes, there was not enough deducted from my pay and at the end of the year I owed 4100 baht. The amount on line 13 was the amount that I owed, the amount on line 14 was the amount that I paid in and the difference being 4100 baht. The receipt that I have is for 4100 baht, not the entire amount.

On the one that they owed me a refund, The amount that I owed was on line 13, The amount that I paid in was on line 14 the difference being 12400 in my favor. The receipt that I have is for 0 baht and I also have a copy of a check that I received in the mail for the 12400 baht. I did not have to pay any money when I went to the tax office since I had overpaid, as did the OP, and the receipt is for 0 baht. But I had to have the receipt to show immigration that I had settled my account before I could extend my visa again!

The receipt does not show what has been deducted from your pay check, what has been paid in or what is owed you via a refund check. It only shows what you paid at the time that you visited the tax office and that you have settled your account.

Only the PND! form shows how much your refund should be.

If you still think that I am taking "a rather pedantic and churlish approach", whatever that's supposed to mean, then exercise your option!

Proving the point that the OP is owed nothing. Thank you for proving my point.

It seems quite obvious that the agent is having a laugh with this guy.

Dictionaries are very good things for looking up words you don't understand.

Hey guys, lower your missiles, I don't want any bloodshed on this thread! biggrin.png

I sometimes highlight or write in bold letters or capitals to make a point, usually that's accepted but I can understand that someone feels patronized.

Thanks for all the info and for taking your time to reply, but I still have a question: when I look at my old 91 form from 2006, I assume the school supplied me with paperwork listing the deductions.

My total after deductions was 144,000 baht, so below 150,000 but I still had to pay 400 baht on top of the eight monthly 500 baht payments. Even though I was under the 150K threshold I paid 4,400 baht in taxes, not zero. Here's how it looks:

1) 240,000

4) 60,000

6) 36,000

7) 144,000

10) and 12) 144,000

13) 4,400

14) 4,000

15) 400

Then on the right

1) 30,000

11) 6,000

12) 36,000

I have to say that the English version does not match the (old?) Thai 91 form exactly. On the left I have English: 22) and Thai only 21).

On the right I have English: total =14) which is Thai: 12) - confusing!

All that I did was prove that you are wrong. look at my post where I overpaid by 12400 baht, but my receipt was still zero. It meant that I paid nothing on the day that I went in because I overpaid by 12400 baht, but I had to have a receipt for immigration so the receipt was 0 baht. It showed that I had settled my taxes for that year. The only document that I had that showed that the tax office owed me 12400 baht was the pnd1 of which I signed and kept a copy. Two months later I received a check from the revenue dept for 12400 baht. The receipt only shows that you have settled your account it does not show what you have paid in. If it is for anything other than 0 baht, it's a receit for the amount that you paid in that day to settle your account!

"On the one that they owed me a refund, The amount that I owed was on line 13, The amount that I paid in was on line 14 the difference being 12400 in my favor. On the day that I went in I filed my pnd1 form showing that I had overpaid 12400 baht so I did not have to pay anything extra and received a receipt for 0.00 baht which I used for visa purposses. If I used your logic, the receipt for 0 baht would have meat that I didn't pay in anything and I certainly did since I received a check for overpayment of 12400 baht.

As far as your "churlish" response about the dictionary, I'm an American and could care less about proper British English

Are you still with the same agent? From your post on the other thread I would think not.

It really does sound like you have been taken for a ride over this.

Last time you received a form showing all the deductions. This time nothing. That suggests no payments were made.

Did you give the agent your tax code?

You also mentioned that you pay social security? 600 baht? Strange. On your salary you should be paying 750. It is 5% of salary capped at 750 baht.Have you received an updated Social Security card? I would go and check there too. Maybe your payments have not been forwarded.

Go and see them. If you are indeed upto date on payments then you can carry on paying yourself, about 430 baht a month, and keep the medical cover. It is a good deal. Also you can, as of end of contract, apply for unemployment benefit. I think that is around 150baht a day for 90 days.

The tax free amount used to be only 100000 baht. It was raised to 150000 baht, but I don't know exactly when. I just looked at my return for 2007 and it was still 100000 baht then. That would explain the difference. You made 144000 baht after deductions, of it 100000 baht was exempt leaving 44000 baht taxable at 10%. So the amount that you owed was 4400 baht. You paid in 4000 so you still owed 400. When you paid the 400 you got a receipt for 400 baht, not 4400 baht. Explains it all, I think!

On the contrary, if the OP did indeed pay taxes, which I still think he didn't, he underpaid. Look at the post about "I paid 7000 baht but owed 7200".

Thank you for caring.

Well if the moderators are watching they should ban chonabot, the "Honorary Member", for pouring oil into the fire, jumping into this conversation with an unqualified remark.

If that's all you have to say, why don't you stay away?

I quit this thread, too.

I'm an english teacher and have every right to add some light humour to a fast plumetting thread.

Pointing out that I am a honorary member is even less relevant smile.png
