In over 11 years of doing pool work in Thailand, we have amassed a huge knowledge bank of tips and tricks that we use routinely in the field. E.g., wrap the foot valve pipe in green chicken mesh and secure it with cable ties to prevent leaf clogging. This is just an example, and we have hundreds more. To help make pool ownership and care in Thailand a bit easier, we are posting these tips and tricks on our facebook page. They will be called "Tip of the Week" so imaginatively name. Lol. We hope you like them, and if you have any questions don't hesitate!

If, like me you are against adding unnecessary chemicals to your pool water there is a simple alternative if you have an algae or cloudy water problem. I think I am correct in saying that normal price is to add aluminium sulfate as a flocculant and then allow your filter to collect the now larger lumps and hopefully backwash the.stuff away.

My tip is this, but a cheapo 250W submersible pump, a bit of flexible hose and two 1 micron filter bags, throw the pump in the water and output to one of the bags, when it is full of green stuff, swap bags and continue until everything is clear. Hose the dirty bag out and finish in a mild bleach solution and your problem is washed away completely. Suspend the bags above the water and turn the pump off between changes, be prepared for 10 even 20 bagfuls of crap. Should be clear in about a day or so.

Most algae spores are between 5 and 15 microns in size, too small for sand filters, but easily captured in a 1 micron polyester bag filter. I think the trade call it "water polishing" too. So that's nice.

The bags and pump will last for many years and can be used for cleaning up other messes, with or without the bag. Other equipment needed a bowl and a hose for cleaning and your son, or mother-in-law to wash the bags out.

Advantage, you are adding nothing to you pool water and not contaminating your pool water system.
