Pheu Thai denies grooming Yaowapa as PM's standin

BANGKOK: -- The ruling Pheu Thai Party Sunday accused the Opposition Democrats of being fanciful in their claims Pheu Thai heavy-weight Yaowapa Wongsawat is being prepared as a stand-in should PM Yingluck Shinawatra meet with a political accident.

Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit denied the party's Chiang Mai's constituency 3 MP Kasem Nimmolrat has quit to pave the way for Yaowapa to contest an election and replace him.

He said Kasem resigned because of health issues and he is also interested in local elections. Kasem also denied he was pressured by senior party members to quit in order to pave the way for Yaowapa to replace him.

He said the party would announce the party candidate to run in the by-election after the Election Commission had announced the by-election day.

Isn't it just that it's Yaowapa's turn to be the stand in PM next?

I would imagine one of his kids would be groomed for the job afterwards if Mr T decides he prefers to run the country from Dubai.

... should Yingluck meet with a political accident... ??? What is this supposed to mean? Could there be a brother/sister rift? What a weird statement.

As Thaksin is the only PM in recent history to complete a full term, percentages are not on the side of Yingluck to repeat the performance.

Good one. The unambiguous inference of this statement is Thaksin controls the allowance of each PTP MP.

If she had the chance to loot the national tresuary as Thaksin did she to would be able to afford the stay.

Some people cannot count it seems as the OP suggests a replacement of one sister by another in case the big brother does a 'samak' on the first one :-)

Well maybe not so weird. Accident = honest mistake? What goes around comes around.

The real PM is being investigated by the NACC over allegations she lent 30

million baht to a company in which her common law husband, Anusorn Amornchat, was a

shareholder. The NACC is looking at whether asset concealment was involved.

Interesting MP Kasem Nimmolrat

Resigns prom politics due to health reasons and

he is also interested in local elections

Maybe I missed some thing here.

Perhaps he was told that local elections would be real healthy for him?

Yaowapa could get her singing sister Yingluck to join her on stage for a bit of karaoke. They could do that one by the Pet Shop Boys, appropriately entitled 'Opportunities'........

Agreed

I found it very odd that the opposition did not jump all over this. This is an admission that this whole government is brought & paid for.

It seems that the Shinawatra family is running out of fresh politicians and they have to start recycling those already convicted of corruption.

Yingluk should be grateful though. Can you imagine what it would be like to forget where you put that million dollars?

All very confusing for a young lad like me.

So they had a by-election up north which the PT candidate won, he then promptly resigned for health reasons.

The bad health it seems came on suddenly, or could it be that someone suggested that taking up the post of MP would be bad for his health?

To go back a bit, the reds said they wanted a say in, if not to choose the candidate. Was the elected one their choice?

Anyway now the taxpayer has to pay for another by-election to get the person into the job that someone really wanted in the first place.

So why wernt they chosen right at the get-go to save a lot of mucking around?

Thaksin hasn't started his term yet, he's in Dubai avoiding it. The chances of Yingluk doing a runner when convicted are quite high IMHO.

UPDATE
Pheu Thai denies grooming Yaowapa as PM's stand-in

BANGKOK: -- The ruling Pheu Thai Party yesterday accused the Opposition Democrats of being fanciful in their claims Pheu Thai heavyweight Yaowapa Wongsawat is being prepared as a stand-in should PM Yingluck Shinawatra meet with a political accident.

The Democrats interpreted Kasem's resignation as a plan to get Yaowapa ready for the PM's post by first winning an MP seat in case Yingluck was to be removed through any of the following scenarios:

First, Yingluck is facing an investigation by the National Counter Corruption Commission for allegedly submitting a false assets-declaration involving a Bt30 million loan extension.

Second, Yingluck might be linked in several corruption investigations such as in the rice pledging scheme and the Village and Community Potential Development Project or SML.

Third, the PM could face a grilling over a move to give her brother, ex-pm Thaksin Shinawatra, a passport.

"If Yaowapa is interested in contesting the election, she is entitled to because the five-year political ban against her has been lifted. Besides, constituency 3 is Yaowapa's native residence and where she was elected an MP,'' he said.

Chiang Mai election director Suchart Chaipakdi said he had not seen Kasem's resignation paper but only heard the resignation will be effective from today.

The by-election must be held within 45 days.

This is the start of the Thaksin dynasty so everyone in the family will be groomed in one way or another for a seamless handover no matter what happens
