One Way Ticket Possible Without Visa?

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I want to visit Thailand, leaving from Las Vegas. I don't know how long I want to stay, and don't want to wait for a visa. Are there any airlines that will fly me one way, provided that I have an onward flight, say to Cambodia, within the first 30 days?

Or do I always have to have a round trip?

If the one-way is fine, any specific airlines that give more hassle over this issue than others?

Thanks,

Steve

All that is required is an onward ticket within 30 days. So yes you can just buy a one way ticket to any neighboring country.

You could get a tourist visa in about 3 days by courier to a honorary Thai consulate that would give you a 60 day entry extendable by 30 days for each entry you buy.

List of honorary consulates at bottom of this webpage http://www.visetkaew.com/wp/directories/.

Portland Oregon has been reported as being very helpful.

I appreciate the response. Anyone other feedback? I had problems with a United booking. Had to cancel because they said I wouldn't be allowed to board. Pretty nervous.

Go to this webpage and select the required info that will take you to a IATA website that all airlines can access for info on Thailand entry requirements. http://www.staralliance.com/en/services/visa-and-health/

Per above answer, any airline should allow you to fly with a ticket out of Thailand within 30 days.

If any problems, ask a supervisor to check the rules.

Cambodia might not be the best as visa is required for entry which you do not have - if US or most passports you would not require a visa for Malaysia or Singapore so you would have paperwork for next destination as required.

Air Asia to Cambodia is cheap and Phnom Phenh is worth a visit any travel shop will sort your visa out within a few days when you get here when you get back you will get another 30 days good luck.

So if I read this right, if I go to a Thai consulate in advance & get a 60-day visa (in the U.S., for a U.S. passport holder) does that mean I do NOT need any return or onward ticket to be admitted to Thailand?

Correct, although some consulates require to see flight tickets before they will issue a visa, check on their website or call.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

THe Thai Honorary Consulate in Portland is very friendly. Call them if you have any questions. You can do everything by courrier service in a few days. Here's their info: Visa application porcedures, Portland Oregon.doc

Thanks. I'm in Honolulu so I'll take my chances with them first. I appreciate the info in case I need a back-up plan. I don't have my flight arrangements; in fact, I'm going to try to catch military flights for free (from Hickam in Hawaii via Japan to Singapore, then commercial to BKK).
