City repairs Thepprasit sidewalk

PATTAYA:--City engineers have repaired the broken sidewalks at the intersection of Thepprasit and Jomtien Second roads in Jomtien Beach.

Somchai Nonthasai and four workers on March 12 leveled the walkway, which had sunk and posed a hazard due to its uneven surface. Tourists and nearby shop owners had complained several times to the city about the danger.

Only in Thailand would this be news.

This must be someone betting the reporter that he wouldn't dare posting this as news and the reporter taking the bet.

All in all, still poor reporting as usual. Not just Somchai was there doing the job. We want the name of the four workers too. They also deserve recognition, specially if as it sounds they were the ones actually doing the work.

C'mon reporter, I dare you to do an update on the "news" including those 4 names wink.png

About time. That stretch of pavement has been hideously dangerous for the last couple of months. All the paving wobbling every which way.

when Somchai and his mates finish this job - can they get a tin of red paint and a tin of white paint and mark the kerb edge to stop complete dick heads parking cars and trucks outside the Continental Bakery so that the deadly 'U' Turn just behind the guy laying slabs can be a little bit safer ???

Then next job is to go 20 yards down the same road and repair the broken drain under the pavement at the new 7/11 so that every time it rains there is not a flood of foul black water ripping the paving slabs up again and again and again.....

by the way the photo is Thrapraya Road not Theprasit....?

I would not like to work on Theprasit paving slabs they are covered in dog crap...

One of those tiles on top of sand jobs?

It is marked already but no one pays any attention. I often turn there as well and it is a complete pain when some idiot parks there.

Still, when did anyone in Thailand ever respect lanes or parking restrictions?

To be fair, this is a good-news story. The state of footpaths is Pattaya is appalling and it's good to see Somchai and the boys getting down to it. It's also good to see that the council responds to complaints by business owners.

Good to hear that. I hope they fixed all of it, because there is a great deal that needs to be done.

This footpath was installed less than a year ago and began falling apart immediately.

Who approved and paid for the shoddy work?
