Hi, I have recently renewed my extension of stay based on marriage, this is my second year. I'm currently on the 'under consideration' stamp and am due back to the Immigration ofice in the middle of April for the full year extension stamp etc.

Anyway I just received information that there is a family illness back in my home country that may need me to travel back urgently. Does anyone know how this would work whilst having the 'under consideration' stamp? If I need to leave would I have to go through the whole process again on my return or can I get help from the immigration office at Bangkok International Airport? Do they accomodate people in these type of circumstances?

I realise that calling or dropping into my local immigration office to get details would be the most obvious choice but given the circumstances and that its a sunday, I thought some of the regulars here might have some advice for me. Any help would be really greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Get yourself a Re Entry Permit. 1,000 Baht.

Preferably from your local Immigration but can be obtained at the airport.

Make sure that you are back for the report date in April.

You have to be back by report date because re-entry permit will only be valid up to that date.

If not you will have to start all over again which includes getting a new O visa.

Thanks for that LB, that sounds relatively painless. Feel more comfortable now if the call comes.

If I do need to go I will make sure I'm back by the report date. Thanks again.
