Hi has anyone sent something like a laptop or any other expensive items in the mail and been caught up with customs in Australia ? Just interested to know how strict they are about it and if they do charge an import duties if I decided to send one to a friend.

You may need a receipt showing the item is over on eyear old and for personal use only. Maybe you canget around the tax issue then.
