So far I have tried BigC basement, 2 CCTV shops in Patong, top floor Jungcyelon. Still have a couple of CCTV shops in Phuket to check. I am tired of shops telling me to try this place or that place. The one I have gobbles far too much internet bandwidth. Years ago I bought this sort of system from Porn Electric in Patong. But since he moved to new road he does not carry CCTV gear. He points me to the local CCTV shops, but they no hab. Sorry, I'm a little confused LIK. A camera that uses "bandwidth" is a "webcam" or "internet camera." A wireless CCTV is not on the internet, therefore, doesn't use any bandwidth, but sends it's signal, wirelessly, to a base station which is then plugged into a DVR and/or a TV. This saves you from running cables, drilling holes through walls etc etc. The below link is what I am talking about on Ebay. You will see these camears can still use a cable, but can also work wirelessly. If you have a lot of local network traffic (for example movie NAS for customers), then it might be a good idea to have a second wifi router for the wifi cameras. I know I can buy on eBay. Just asking if anyone knows a local supplier. The receiver unit has composite video output which I can plug into my existing cctv dvr. The dvr method works well for my needs. I agree, ready made systems should be cheaper, if you don't have old PC to be used for collecting and monitoring the data. However to make one from scratch would be a nice project Anyway if when you are looking for new system, it might be a good idea to check if some of the models are able to upload images to the internet cloud service or similar. CCTV cameras with wireless transmission to the box. Box would send one image in 20 seconds or so to the server accessible from the Internet. This would have at least 2 benefits. One to have some images in case the CCTV collecting box is stolen or destroyed by for example fire. Secondly you might have an access to the live feed while you are traveling.
