How To Make Orchids Flower

Featured Replies

I've got a good few orchids scattered through my trees.

They only get mottled sun which I guess is good.

I water them, that's it.

But I would like them to flower.

I heard of a tablet you make into a solution and it helps them flower.

But what's the bigger story?

thanks!

my wf.grows quite a lot she gives them a treat [tablet] and you can get a liquid solution you spray them with.

Got me there, we have a constant display of orchids here. We spray and water twice a day. they are planted in coconut shells filed with fibre. Half shadow I would say, as most Thai orchids grow on trees, this is about right. I have seen orchid fertiliser for sale, but judging by past experience with other Thai fertilisers (burning) I would tend to avoid these.

Let the nature work, in the dry season we ad some water - sometimes

I'm lucky if the damn nature works once every 5 years

They like a moist environment. Going outside just now to send a foto I see that there are no flowers at present, very hot at present.

Feed them....weekly,weakly. Spray them with 15-15-15. (Kilo bags available at most farm shops) Once they start to flower lay off the feeding....just water.

Regards.

That may be it...I had heard they need feeding to catalyse some flowering.
