Not just in Thailand but agents not stating a salary range and asking for candidates for their requirements pisses me right off and another reason I put the majority of recruitment consultants in the same bracket as Saddam or Pol Pot

Its no wonder that a lot of IT Consultants I know (I am currently one) say "I am off to call my Pimp" when we refer to the necessary evil that are recruitment consultants!

Rant over and sorry to all Recrutiment Agents but they do sometime piss me and many others off :o:D

Clarification:

- I'm not a recruitment agent nor the hiring manager for this position. But I can make recommendation.

- If you are in Bangkok and the IT Business, you would have an idea what a local package is for an IT consultant in Security, for a MNC.

- If needed, a quick google search on "IT Bangkok Salary survey" would point you to some industry figures.

Hmm not in Bangkok anymore but when I was I was on a daily rate of about half to 1/3 what I would get in Europe.

Currently waiting to see the salary range for a regional role in Singapore for a very large MNC that I have been told is mine if I want it. I know it will be a wage cut but I am currently contracting but how much of a cut I will accept is still under debate.

Are network admin people in Thai companies usually Thai or do they bring in people from abroad?

I would say both with the vast majority being Thai - cheaper with the same IT skills plus the language.

When I look at Thai based jobs on www.jobserve.com its very rare you see a networking job.

In fact the last one I remember was a good few years ago and the guy who got it emailed me for a while through another board - this was specialist networking I think for Orange and he had worked on their systems before elsewhere.
