Almost 30,000 students have applied in the “Good Jobs for Students” project

The Education Ministry will open a center “Good Jobs for Students” to listen to opinions and problems from around the country, while almost 30,000 students have applied to join the project.

Education Minister Jaturon Chaisang (จาตุรนต์ ฉายแสง) revealed that the center is set up under a project promoting students to seek part-time jobs during school breaks. He said that the ministry aims to attract around 120,000 students to work for state agencies and 200,000 others in private agencies. He insisted that the Education Ministry pays attention to this project, adding that it will listen to problems from across the country. He said that in other provinces, the ministry has coordinated with related agencies, provincial employment office, and local administrations for support in the project.

The Education Minister said that during May 11-13, many students paid attention to the project, adding that around 28,000 students have applied in Bangkok. He said that officers in the provinces are concluding the number of applicants every week.

Call me crazy, but I would have thought that the Labor Ministry would be the ones behind a student summer-work project... and that hopefully the Education Ministry would focus on some type of student summer-educational project aimed at improving the deplorable status of education in Thailand.
