On the 25th of Jan 2006 My fiancé' and I applied for a prospective spouse visa at the Thai cc building in Bangkok.

On the 14th of Feb she had her one on one interview with the Thai officer at the Australian embassy and now we are just bursting at the seams to get a response. We submitted everything possible, stat decs from family and friends acknowledging our relationship, every possible financial document i could get my hands on ... and the Thai interviewer at the embassy told my fiancé that they wont need anymore info. On top of that, her medical docs were also received by the embassy from an accredited doctor 3 days before we submitted our docs and we got official translations of everything that was in Thai and required by the embassy at the time of application too. The officer at the embassy said that "our application is fully complete" her words according to my fiancé. I would hope that she thinks its fully complete, because including printouts of 8months worth of emails and everything else that was handed to the officer at the Thai cc building weighed in a 3.5kg

Has anyone had experience with a prospective spouse visa?

Mark...

Chareehusbee has just been granted a spouse visa for his wife...these are similar applications and this topic has been discussed at length in recent threads here...just go back and read a few.

The immigration website has a lot of info on it as well.

Your case sounds promising, and it seems you have everything covered....good luck

You'll probably get your visa in record time just so that they can hand back to you a container full of your papers.

Your case officer must be feeling cramped in her own office with your huge file taking up valuable space.

I am just curious to know how you presented this large collection of information ..... This will be me some time down the track

Cheers

Hi Will,

I went to officeworks before i flew over, and i got one of those expandable folders, that kind of looks like an acordian with a handle, to hold the emails and original envelopes with regards to our letters and packages sent to each other. We also handed over two photo albums, 2 folders with 40 plastic sheets each, that contained all the original docs like ID, financials, phonebills, Stat decs (i think i had about 20 stat decs from family and friends as evidence of our relationship and also certified copies of their ID's and also photo's of them with my fiance') also i had my stat decs declaring everything under the sun not to mention everything that the embassy required from my fiance'.

On everything that we handed over at the thai cc tower, had a sticker on it with my fiance's name, her passport number and the type of visa we were applying for. The officer at thai cc put everything but the acordian styled folder into a document bag and it was fine.

I just went in with the theory of give them everything that proves our case, they want to see evidence of a relationship is genuine so do that first time and make sure that you can also tick off every box with what they tell u that they require as a minimum.

I'll be applying for my GF's visa in about 2 weeks, we are weighing in at about 3kgs so far too. They should just say that the minimum requirement must weigh in at 3kgs and you pass! :o

Thanks Mark, same goes. I have one up on many though. I read so often of guys going crazy not being with their missus. I fortunatly live in Thailand with my missus and wont have to got trough that being apart stage...hopefully.

Not to say that the whole process isn't a killer though!

I teach English like most other falangs here. I came here with great intentions to start a new career in teaching. Unfortunately I soon realised that teaching (in Thailand) wasn't going to be my dream job for the rest of my life. I did however meet my fiance and we have been living together for 18 months now. I really wanted to go back to OZ a long time ago but thought it would be a good opportunity to be patient and stay here with my girl and gather all the evidence for the SV. Teaching English is ok and can be fun, but the downside is a small income, and that is now proving to be my vice for getting our visa. (read my other thread - financial requirements)

If you want any help on teaching here in LOS let me know, not hard to get a job here if you have a UNi degree of any kind.

regards ]
