May 16, 201313 yr It is true that many Thais (especially here in Isaan) get themselves into debt to such an extent that they sometimes are floundering to get themselves out of the hole that they have dug. This happens everywhere, especially when times are tight. How many farangs do you know who have got themselves into trouble with their credit cards? I read about the proliferation of 'pay day loan' companies in the UK, I wonder how the rate of interest charged by them compares to that charged here in Thailand.

Best off asking someone back home to send you some cash to tide you over via Western Union, ask for the manager at the yellow bank and explain the situation since you don't have your passport? WU used to do passphrase-only no ID transfers but I don't think they allow for that at least in Thailand anymore. Or contact your embassy.
