Trip To Hanoi

Featured Replies

We, wife & 16 y/o son are thinking about visiting Hanoi for a few days in early April. I looked at some of the 3 day tours available but though we could do it on our own. Can anyone recommend a resonablef guest house or hotel in Hanoi and what tours we should focus on as we will only be there a few days?

Been a few years now since I used to work in Hanoi but its got hotels to cover all budgets ...and not too busy.

Assuming you just want to spend a couple of days in town places to visit would be the old quarter,Hoe Keam Lake/Pagoda and I recco. a tour of Uncle Hoe"s last abode..hes still there but looking a bit pale.

All depends on your travel planes, budget and interests very nice city....bit of info on hotels... :o

I was hanoi last december and stayed at the Sofitel Metropole which is a beautiful french colonial hotel. Its probably at the top end of the scale for accomodation costs, but there are many good value guest houses in hanoi, and as far as interesting parts of the city go I would definitely recommend the old quarter where all of the art is sold. Its a great place to explore.

The other recommendation I have is a tour on Halong bay. I used Handspan tours for a 3 day/2 night trip around the bay on an old chinese junk ship. It was FANTASTIC! Absolutely beautiful.

You can view the details on their website (I believe they also have a budget priced guest house):

Good luck, I hope this helps.
