PM Thaksin assigns Mr. Suriya to set up plans for adjusting sugar price

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has assigned Deputy Prime Minister and Industry Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit (สุริยะ จึงรุ่งเรืองกิจ) to set up plans for adjusting the sugar price in accordance with the market price.

The Prime Minister has met with the entrepreneurs of sugar factories from Ratchaburi (ราชบุรี) and Kanchanaburi (กาญจนบุรี) provinces, to acknowledge the sugar price problems in the market, following the recent adjustment of sugar price. He said he would like to know the real problems since it is essential for the government to adjust its policies.

The representatives of sugar entrepreneurs revealed that the problems have occurred because the price of sugar in neighboring countries is higher. Furthermore, sugar was smuggled for sales along the border areas.

The premier has assigned Mr. Suriya to lay out plans for adjusting sugar price. He will also call for a meeting with the Commerce Ministry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and the Energy Ministry to talk about the amount of sugar for ethanol production.

This is issue is very interesting.

And shoud be considered as a test.

As i said before all "thaksinomics" are just sand, powder.

For years he tried to curb inflation, by controling prices (among other means).

If now he gives everything to the farmer (AKA = market price), then it could mean that he just does'nt care anymore... possible resignation ?
