Anyone know of a shop that sells wood band saws? Not looking for anything too expensive, but needs to be in the Chiang Mai area. Google map coordinates would be great.

Makita makes a nice (small one). any shop that sells Makita tools can order it; it's in their catalog. You did not say what you wanted it for. If you want to resaw large timbers the Makita will not do it for you. But if you are hobbyist or small woodworker, it may be just the ticket.

I am looking for something other than a benchtop model that will resaw logs (up to 12') for cutting blanks for woodturning bowls, platters, etc. thanks for the info.

If you're on Facebook there's a few groups dedicated to selling 2nd hand goods in Chiang Mai. I've recently seen a bandsaw on one of them.

Check out "Seconhand Chiangmai". There's a chap selling a bandsaw for 10,000 and a log cutter, also 10,000.

Ok, found it. I assume I have to wait for my group request to go thru first before I can contact the seller on anything I find there, otherwise I'm not sure what the correct procedures are for contacting the seller are. Thanks for the info!

The Makita is not a bench-top saw. It is floor standing. I doubt, though that you could use it for 12" logs. You looking for a pretty heavy duty band saw for that!

There's a killer one plus like 3 extra blades being advertised on Facebook under the Secondhand Chiang Mai pg. Alo a radial saw and a couple other serious shop tools. The guy's been advertising for a month alread with no sale, so I bet he's ready to bargain. Hope you do FB, otherwise you miss out.
